Longines has just opened their new flagship boutique on the iconic Rue du Rhône in Geneva. For the first time, there is a space dedicated to professionally restored and certified vintage Longines timepieces. Let’s explore it together!

A fresh Start in Genève

We walk from the train station down to the beautiful Rhône River and cross it. Soon we arrive at the corner of Rue du Rhône and Place de Fusterie. Here, the new flagship boutique of the brand with the winged hourglass is located. A carefully curated selection of Longines timepieces can already be admired through the large windows of the boutique. Its different displays honor the brand’s different collections. When entering, we dive into the universe of the brand. A refined and sophisticated interior design awaits us. The mix of materials and colors is very well executed. It ranges from wood to elegant marble.

In terms of watch models, the boutique offers a great selection of many timepieces from all the current collections. They are beautifully presented between accessories and decorations linked to Longines’ rich history. Shopping here is a true experience!

The Longines Collector’s Corner

Since we are very fond of the history of the brand, we love to discover the new “Collector’s Corner”. It is the first time that Longines has dedicated space in boutique to vintage timepieces. The ones on display are carefully curated. Most are from the collectible eras of the 1950s and 1960s. They come with in-house manufacture movements and were serviced by the brand’s skilled watchmakers in St Imier.

We are very pleased to see Longines embracing its rich history with their involvement in aviation, adventure, and equestrian sports. Since there are many Longines enthusiasts and collectors, the new boutique is bound to be the place for like-minded people to meet and share their passion about the watches from the brand with the winged hourglass.

We leave the boutique with the desire to get a new timepiece. But should it be one of the new models like The Longines Spirit or a beautifully restored vintage timepiece? There is still time to decide. In the meantime, have a look at this article if you want to learn more about Longines.

Great watches have stories that never end, they just get better with time. That’s why we decided to invite some of our Instagram followers to spend an unforgettable evening at the newly opened Bucherer Gallery in Bern. Here, like-minded ladies and gentlemen discovered the fascinating world of certified pre-owned watches and many more. For the event we check in at the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern. Let us give you a glimpse behind the scences!

Staying at the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern

We arrive in Bern a day before the event to handle all the preparations. Hence, we check in at the Schweizerhof Bern Hotel & Spa. Rich in tradition, this iconic hotel has been welcoming guests from all over the world since 1859. Ever since, they made sure that guests experience an unforgettable stay in the heart of Switzerland’s charming capital city. The Schweizerhof Bern offers 99 charming rooms & suites, that are all elegantly furnished. It is truly a luxurious, five-star accommodation that strikes the perfect balance between flawless & functional. For us this is the ideal home-base for our event preparations.

Enjoying Culinary Delights

From signature cocktails to fine dining, there is much to enjoy at the Schweizerhof Bern Hotel & Spa. The iconic Jack's Brasserie with 14 Gault Millau points is a particularly nice place. It is well-known in Bern and is said to offer the very best Wienerschnitzel in town. People looking for a fine dining experience won't be disappointed either. The in-house brasserie-style restaurant offers a classic menu featuring seasonal and modern interpreted Brasserie dishes using regional ingredients. Dining here is a real treat for us!

Once the event preparations are done, we settle down at the Lobby-Lounge-Bar. Here, signature cocktails & light meals are awaiting us. We once again realize that The Schweizerhof Bern is an unrivaled destination for food & drink in Switzerland's capital city. That's also true for cigars. Their Cigar Lounge offers a wide, carefully curated selected range of cigars. An outstanding variety of selected spirits is also on available with helpful staff ready to recommend the ideal pairing to enjoy in a stylish atmosphere.

The Artworth at Bucherer Event

Inspired by the spirit of a concept store, Bucherer has launched the new Bucherer Gallery concept. At selected Bucherer boutiques, entire floors are dedicated to the creation of an exclusive environment filled with inspiring events for design and watch aficionados. The latest opening of a Bucherer Gallery took place here in Bern. The ideal place to host our second ARTWORTH AT BUCHERER event.

The evening is dedicated to certified pre-owned watches. These are timepieces that already have an exciting history and are looking to be worn and enjoyed further. Bucherer has an excellent offering in that category. Aficionados can find sought-after models like the Rolex GMT-Master II, Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso or Omega Speedmaster. All in different variations!

While talking about watches, our guests get spoiled with an outstanding catering by the talented team of the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern. They treat us to salmon tartar with caviar, foie gras parfait and much more. With it, we enjoy excellent champagne by Veuve Clicquot. Wine enthusiast Sandro Sarbach from the Maison even lets us taste the rare cuvée La Grande Dame 2008. What a delight!

There is also an "Italian Corner" at the event. Here, our tailor Monogramme is presenting some of the latest trends in men's fashion. Next to him, guests can enjoy a Negroncino. Cheers!

The next morning, we enjoy a rich breakfast at Jack's Brasserie. Time to reflect on the past night. It was amazing to have met so many like-minded people. We can't wait to host another ARTWORTH AT BUCHERER event soon. Where should we come next after Zurich and Bern. Let us know here!

The success of Geneva Watch Days 2020 has encouraged its founding and associated brands to organise the event again in 2021 with a very similar format. Reason enough for us to travel to Geneva and identify some notable novelties for you. Here are three watches which caught our attention this year. Enjoy!

Greubel Forsey's GMT Earth Final Edition

Greubel Forsey has unveiled the third and final interpretation of their magnificent GMT Earth at this year's Geneva Watch Days. This unique and now even more modern creation features a new titanium case with an intense black finish on the movement. It is a limited edition of only 11 pieces. How do you like it?

ORIS introduces Upcycling to its Aquis Date

Independent watchmaker ORIS has presented an interesting novelty in Geneva this year. Their popular Aquis Date comes now with a special dial made from recycled PET plastic. They deliberately opted for random patterns, meaning no two dials are the same. This new Aquis Date Upcycle comes in a 41.5mm case and is part of the brand's "Change for the better" initiative. Additionally, ORIS also announced a partnership with the Swiss cleantech startup #tide ocean SA to battle the world’s ocean plastic crisis. Way to go!

Bianchet launches with the Tourbillon B1.618

Switzerland-based Bianchet is one of the new kids on the block. Four years ago, they started their endeavor to create a tourbillon inside a tonneau-shaped sports watch. Their design is inspired by the Italian mathematician Fibonacci and its iconic golden number 1.618 which can be recognized in the shape of the watches.

Bianchet Tourbillon B1.618

The Tourbillon B1.618 Openwork is crafted from a unique blend of carbon, rubber and titanium. It is powered by a tourbillon movement manufactured in the Swiss Jura. Limited to only 21 pieces, this is definitely one of the more interesting new releases at this year's Geneva Watch Days.

About the Geneva Watch Days

The Geneva Watch Days is an annual "phygital" event that is global, decentralised, self-managed and open to the public. It brings together a group of some 20 brands representing the art of horology in various hotels, manufactures and boutiques in the world’s watchmaking capital. Originally, it was launched by a pool of Founding Benefactor Brands including Bvlgari, Breitling, Greubel Forsey, H. Moser & Cie., MB&F, and others.

The smallest 5 Star Superior Hotel in Switzerland can be found in a small Engadine village, home to only 100 people. Here, a wonderful mountain landscape sets the scene for a beautiful inn: The IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau. It has preserved its classic Engadine style for over 450 years and is the work of the Cadonau family. Top Chef Dario Cadonau has made a name for himself with his his fine cuisine. Lately also as global ambassador of Veuve Clicquot and their La Grand Dame cuvée. Join us for an unforgettable stay in the Engadine!

Dining with Dario Cadonau, Veuve Clicquot Ambassador

We arrive at the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau for a very special event: Rosé Together! Top chef and host Dario Cadonau, together with his wife Tamara, have invited a group of friends and guests to join him on a culinary journey featuring some of his finest dishes and paired with exclusive Veuve Clicquot Rosé creations. The evening starts on the newly opened terrace with a wonderful wooden lounge and beautiful views. Here, the team of Dario Cadonau, who was awarded 1 Michelin Star and 17 Gault&Millau points, treats us with some mouth-watering appetizers. With it, glasses of Veuve Clicquot Rich Rosé are served. It is a champagne with a dosage of 60 g/L, which enhances the blend’s aromas. It tastes wonderful on ice. We are off to a great start!

Once it gets a bit colder outside, we are in the middle of the Swiss Alps after all, the guests head inside where the pleasant evening continues. We are seated on two large tables. A familiar atmosphere and genuine happiness unfolds as more delicacies are served. The starter, a wonderful creation with foie gras and a dish with veal on a salmon sauce, is paired with a Veuve Clicquot Rosé poured from a magnum bottle.

We then continue with an incredible creation made from tomato essence, followed by perch fillet. Both paired with the incredible La Grande Dame 2004 cuvée. Just as everyone thought that it couldn't get any better, the next course arrived. It is dedicated to the quail. This delicacy gets served in three variations, all paired with La Grande Dame 2006. We're in heaven!

A lesser known fact about the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau is, that they produce their own cheese. Lots of it actually. Now we get to taste some of their finest variations. With it, La Grande Dame 2008 is served. A very full-bodies cuvée with a big of sweetness that goes wonderful with the cheese.

For the dessert, glasses are filled with the Veuve Clicquot Rich Rosé again. It turns out to be the ideal pairing for the raspberry ice cream and espuma that is served. After experiencing the gourmet cuisine of Dario Cadonau and enjoying the excellent champagnes by Veuve Clicquot we understand why he was appointed ambassador of the brand. Both parties strive for excellence in their craft buy stay true to their origins. A great match!

Getting to know Dario Cadonau

We had the chance to sit down with Dario Cadonau and talk about how he became a top chef. He also tells us what influence nature has on this cuisine and what inspires his cooking style.

When did you start dreaming of owning your own hotel?

It was very early on. I was the one in our family who fell in love with gastronomy and the hotel business. As a child, I liked to cook at home; for me but also for friends. It always fascinated me. I then went on and built my career on that passion. I told myself that I would certainly like to run my own restaurant and, if possible, my own hotel. This dream has followed me from an early age. With my apprenticeship as a chef, my career finally took shape.

Who or what inspired you on your path to becoming a top chef?

During my apprenticeship at Suvretta House, I had the opportunity to follow and participate in competitive culinary art exhibitions. I was always very impressed by that. The Suvretta House has a large, classic kitchen with over 50 employees. Things got rough there from time to time. As an apprentice, you had to get down and dirty. That pushed me forward and I had the opportunity to develop a certain perfectionism in my work. I was then able to get to know the haute cuisine in the context of national and international competitions. There, it was all about the visual arrangement, color combinations and so on. I was fascinated by this kind of cooking and was shaped accordingly. After my apprenticeship, I knew that I wanted to work in gourmet gastronomy. This world fascinated me. I am a person who likes to work precisely and has certain ideas that go in the direction of perfectionism. That then followed me. I went to Philippe Rochat in Crissier, then to Daniel Bumann in La Punt, and to Germany where I worked for the 3-star chef Harald Wohlfahrt. This time shaped my current style.

What makes the gastronomy in the Engadine special?

The Engadine, a long high Alpine valley region in Switzerland, is enormously diverse. In addition, there is a hotspot for luxury hotels and top gastronomy in the central and upper part of the Engadine. In the small village of St. Moritz alone, there is an enormous density of 5-star hotels of considerable size. This is extraordinary! It was built and shaped this way because St. Moritz had an international attraction early on. Guests come from far and wide to the Engadine to enjoy the region. I think it has so many beautiful facets. From sports and museums to music. There is so much to experience! Consequently, culinary delights also play an important role here.

What influence does nature have on your cuisine?

A very important one. At IN LAIN we have geared our cuisine to it: It is very close to nature. We have many products from our own production. For example, flowers, herbs and so on. Our neighbor is also a farmer who grows many products for us. In addition, we have a large vegetable garden on our property. We also work closely with other farmers and fishermen in Switzerland who supply us. It's important to me to know where the products we process come from. When we started 11 years ago, we were also the first to include the local pine trees in our culinary concept. We started with a pine syrup that we serve with champagne as an aperitif drink. This is still the welcome drink our guests enjoy upon arrival. Then we created other dishes like fillet of beef wrapped in a pine crust. Today we serve chocolates, bread but also drinks with it. The Swiss stone pine is native up here, characterizes our cuisine and is part of our DNA.

What role do wine and champagne play in your cuisine?

For me, both are part of a good meal. We are always trying to develop our offering in this area. Especially with regard to our gourmet menu. In our gourmet restaurant, we have always offered a wine accompaniment. Now we also offer a champagne accompaniment. In Switzerland, the latter is unfortunately not as well-known as in France. There, especially in the Champagne region, you will find almost no wine on the menus. There are some, but in most restaurants, champagne is the preferred drink. It is a food companion over there. In Switzerland, that’s a little less the case. That's a pity because anyone who has experienced it knows that it is something wonderful. Personally, I prefer a champagne accompaniment because I feel much fitter the next day than with wine. At least that's the way it is with me. I like that!

What does the collaboration with Veuve Clicquot mean to you?

The Veuve Clicquot team approached me and asked me if I would like to become an international ambassador for the brand and the prestigious La Grande Dame Cuvée. Before accepting, I took my time to consider it. For me, it is important that I can identify with the product and the brand in such collaborations. I'm not interested in just being an ambassador for anything. That's not my world. For me, it's about identifying with a product and a story. With Veuve Clicquot, I found a lot of similarities. Especially with Madame Clicquot, the inventor of the “pupitre de remuage” and Rosé Champagne. She was a pioneer in the industry. In terms of history, there are a few parallels between this French Maison and us at IN LAIN in Switzerland. Especially since we have built something in a very remote place that works and is successful. We must find creative ways to obtain consumers or guests for our products and services. It was the same with Madame Clicquot. That's why we found each other and started working together in December 2020. We were able to create a win-win situation for both.

What do you do to switch off and get inspiration?

I’m passionate about cars. I have a few and I enjoy taking them out for a drive. Although I like some models and brands, I would like to highlight my Corvette in particular. It is a Special Edition, which can also be driven on the racetrack. Really cool! But family and nature are just as important to me. Just like I relax during a car ride, I can also experience that during a walk in the woods where I find inspiration. Likewise, during a hike including a BBQ with my family.

Staying at the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau

A wonderful mountain landscape sets the scene for the beautiful IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau. It is situated just outside the Swiss National Park, home to deer, ibex, eagle and more Alpine creatures. The main building has preserved its classic Engadine style for over 450 years. New buildings have been added recently. They blend in harmoniously with modern lines and clad in natural wood. It is obvious that the architect drew inspiration from the surrounding pine and larch forests.

After a thrilling hike or mountain bike tour, guests can unwind at the natural swimming pond in the hotel garden. The water even comes from their own natural spring. Next to it, the wonderful garden sauna can be found. While sweating, the fragrance of local pine is breathed in and breath-taking views of the mountains are enjoyed. If sauna is not your thing, then the bathing tub might do the trick. Have a bath in pine infused water heated to 38°C. Did you know that local pine has many qualities which have a positive effect on health and well-being? We definitely felt its soothing effect!

One of the fascinating things about the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau is the original building's history. Many of the old elements like the cellars or the living room have been professionally restored and are now part of the hotel. This let's guests dive into a unique world. Another factor is the local pine wood used for construction, interior design and furniture. It creates a very familiar and intimate atmosphere and looks very authentic.

After a relaxing night, we enjoy a rich breakfast. There is a lovely buffet with local bread and charcuterie. Dishes like omelettes or carefully prepared eggs can be ordered too. A great way to finish our stay here at the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau. We hope to be back soon!

Are you more into the Scottish Highlands than the Swiss Alps? Then read this article about our visit at the Glenmorangie Distillery.

Have you ever heard of a place called Engelberg? Or a mountain called Titlis? If not, you might just have found your next holiday destination. Let us take you on an epic journey, back in time and into the heart of the Swiss Alps. Here, you can experience raw luxury. And no place better to do so than at the newly opened Kempinski Palace Engelberg.

Belle Epoque newly interpreted

The new Kempinski Palace Engelberg, which opened its doors at the end of June 2021, reinterprets a unique hotel from the Belle Epoque era for the next generation. It is the fusion of nature, history and modernity that makes this place unique. As the first international five-star superior hotel in Engelberg, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg is a refuge for all seasons. With the promise of exclusivity and luxury, the newest jewel in the Kempinski family stands for a relaxing stay far away from the fast-paced city life.

Immediately after we arrive in our Jaguar F-Pace at the hotel, the historic building manages to captivate us. Inspired by the mountains, the new Kempinski Palace Engelberg features carefully selected local materials such as wood and stone. The design draws on the subtle textures and colors of nature. High-quality and traditional techniques have been used in a contemporary way, and alpine motifs have been taken up and transformed.

Illustrious Past of the Kempinski Palace Engelberg

The successful Engelberg hotelier Eduard Cattani had the building constructed in the late 19th century by his brother, the architect Arnold Cattani, and at that time made it famous far beyond the borders of Switzerland. Today, the new hotel building and the former Europäischer Hof, which opened in 1904 as the Grandhotel Winterhaus, form a perfect architectural unit. Here, time seems to stand still while guests are invited to enjoy the numerous amenities in luxury and style.

The 129 rooms and suites feature light colors and noble materials such as brushed oak and high-quality leather in warm brown tones. Gentle shades of green and blue tones convey a feeling of fresh mountain air. The relaxed interplay of details, state-of-the-art furnishings, such Swiss made box-spring beds, as well as a spectacular panoramic view of the mountains, spreads a feel-good ambience in a class of its own.

We can't imagine a better place to enjoy a rich breakfast. Especially since the talented chefs at the Kempinski Palace Engelberg always come up with some delicious creations. We are especially intrigued by the delicious french toast.

Culinary Delights with a Twist

For dinner, we head over to the "Cattani Restaurant". Decorated in an elegant European style and influenced by the local culture, it conveys a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. Although it is large with 120 seats indoors and 70 seats on the summer terrace, it has a familiar and cozy feel thanks to casual, modern furnishings and stylish accessories. The quietly located terrace offers a unique view of the spectacular mountain landscape and invites guests to linger and enjoy.

The menu features seasonal products from local producers. These are prepared by Executive Chef Michele Müller, one of the few female chefs in a Swiss five-star superior hotel, to create delicious treats. She is constantly on the lookout for new culinary experiences to delight and surprise guests. The culinary delights are complemented by an excellent selection of local and international wines. Among them are some outstanding and sought-after wines from the Swiss "Bündner Herrschaft". For example the wonderfully complex Completer by the prestigious winery Donatsch.

Later, it's time to conclude the night at "The Palace Bar" and the "Cigar Lounge". Historic décor and dark colors bring back the Roaring Twenties in both places and create a pleasant club atmosphere in which guests can relax. We are very pleased by the hotel's fine selection of whiskys and cigars available for aficionados. During the day, guests can also enjoy a variety of lunch classics in "The Palace Bar". We love their burger and sweet potato fries on jalapeno mayonnaise.

Unwinding at The Spa

For the "Kempinski The Spa", located on the top floor, the Alps served as an obvious inspiration. Smooth stone contrasts with graphic lines of wood. The influence of the mountain landscape is abstract, but always in harmony with the view of the incomparable panorama. As we are looking to relax, the spa area with its infinity pool and spacious sunbathing beds is the perfect place. There is also a relaxation room with an open Himalayan salt stone fireplace. So cozy!

For those seeking adventure rather than relaxation, Engelberg has plenty to offer. From recreational hikes to fun E-Bike tours or thrilling Via Ferratas, there is something to do for everybody!

Did we convince you, that Engelberg should be your next holiday destination? If yes, make sure to book your stay at the Kempinski Palace Engelberg here. And by the way, did you know that there is a Kempinski in St. Moritz? Read this article to learn more about it.

There are only few watch brands with a rich history, countless technical innovations and a wide range of products suitable for literally every occasion. Longines is definitely one of them. Let us show you three watches by the brand from St.-Imier for every occasion. Let's go!

The Longines Legend Diver Watch

Longines has been a name long associated with sport. Hence, it is only fitting that it brings its expertise to diving. It all began in 1937, when water-resistance became a quality criterion in watchmaking. Back then, Longines developed a watch case with water-resistant push-pieces for its renowned 13ZN caliber.

Some of these flagship pieces have since been re-issued as part of an “immersion in heritage”. This includes The Longines Legend Diver Watch, released in 2007. It is based on the iconic Longines Reference 7042. It gained recognition as a refined timepiece offering a perfect balance between design and functionality. We love how the latest versions of The Longines Legend Diver Watch conserve this spirit. They offer the same pure lines of the original timepiece. On top, they also feature up-to-date technical characteristics, such as a box-shaped sapphire glass, two screw-in crowns and a screw-down case back. The decent water-resistance of 300 meters is complemented by an automatic movement with a silicon spring-balance.

The Longines Legend Diver Watch is now also available in beautifully coloured versions. The blue or brown shaded dial features luminous hands, hour markers interspersed with luminescent squares and Arab numerals enhanced with Super-LumiNova® rectangles for optimum visibility. A reminder of the codes of the sport for which this watch was originally intended. And just like on the original model, the 42 mm case back is decorated with an embossed emblem of a diver. A structured blue or brown leather strap matches the colour of the dial. For us, these are the perfect timepieces for a day on the lake - of course spent in style!

The Longines Spirit

Longines watches and devices have contributed to a number of pioneering achievements thanks to their reliability, precision, strength and innovation. Not only in diving. They have accompanied exploratory expeditions to unknown shores, confronted extreme weather conditions, sailed across the seas, and took part in the opening of new air routes and the setting of aviation records. Longines Spirit timepieces breathe new life into this rich heritage. Linking history with innovation, they take traditional features from pilot’s watches and combine them with contemporary lines and codes for a decisively contemporary and exacting look.

The collection’s newest addition features an elegant green dial. Being a three-hand model, it also comes with a calendar complication. We love how it comes in both 40mm and 42 mm to fit different tastes. The new colour combines with the Super-LumiNova® beige and lends the model a vintage touch. With the dial’s sandblasted finish creating a fashionable metallic sheen. Contemporary in character but rich in history, it sustains the pioneering spirit that has driven Longines since its very beginnings.

Powered by the exclusive automatic calibres (L888.4) with silicon balance-spring, the Longines Spirit watches are equipped with cutting-edge technology. Each has been chronometer-certified by the COSC (the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute). What we love in particular about these watches is their versatility. They will look good on the wrist from dusk till dawn. From going for a coffee to driving with your favorite car or going on a date a night: The Longines Spirit will always be on point!

One man that embodied Longines' pioneer spirit was Howard Hughes. You can read his story here.

The Longines Master Collection

As a traditional watchmaking company, Longines has been producing exceptional timepieces since the very beginning. Today, the Longines Master Collection is the perfect illustration of this corporate ethos. All watches from this collection are fitted with self-winding movements. Within this family, many special features are offered. One of them is the moon-phase complication. It embodies the classic elegance, excellent quality and savoir-faire of the brand.

On this particular model, the signature silver "barleycorn" dial is complemented wonderfully by a set of blued steel hands. Right above 6 o'clock, the beautifully-made moon-phase complication is set. It also features an integrated calendar function. Coming with a 42mm steel case, it also features a transparent case with sapphire crystal. This addition to the Longines Master Collection comes on both an elegant brown alligator strap and on a sporty steel bracelet. Which model do you prefer?

No matter which one you choose, it will look great on the wrist while having dinner at an upscale restaurant or enjoying a glass of champagne like at The Dolder Grand in Zurich. Cheers!

In the last few years, the pace toward total electrification has taken over the automotive industry. More traditional car brands have understood that electrified mobility seems to be the future. Now it is Jaguar’s turn to start their transition. Their flagship? The Jaguar I-Pace, a 400 horsepower, silent SUV.

The Jaguar I-Pace is capable of performance…

Their latest iteration of the well known SUV is looking to fend for itself in the SUV- and in the EV market. Its modern design and luxurious interior, featuring two large digital screens, are paired with great performances: 0 to 100km/h in 4.8s, all that in total silence. But passengers should brace themselves because the 696 Nm of torque will be felt in the acceleration. Traction-wise, the all-wheel drive allows the Jaguar to perform well on both a highway and on a mountain pass.

...but in English luxury

Seeing the performance numbers above, one may think that the Jaguar I-Pace is a performance SUV and thus may not be comfortable for long road trips. But here at Artworth, we like to combine performance with comfort, and in that regard, the car has impressed us.

Indeed, Jaguar has stayed true to its reputation, and sitting in the driver’s seat, one can only appreciate the generous leather dashboard, the various screens displaying relevant information and infotainment, and the quality, which can be felt when pushing the START button.

We love how the British quality can be felt in the cabin when driving and handling the interior controls. The driver’s screen can be personalized through buttons on the steering wheel, while the central console may be used by the passenger, through the used of the touch screen.

A promising first step for Jaguar

So, is this high-performance SUV the future of the famous brand? We believe that indeed this car represent the first step toward an electrified future at Jaguar. The innovative team behind the British brand will certainly work hard to make electric cars even lighter to further improve its range and overall performance. For now, we are already more than happy with the current Jaguar I-Pace and love to take it on long trips and exciting drives through in the Swiss mountains.

How would you imagine an F1 car in evening attire? Refined proportions, timeless design and unparalleled performance might come to mind. Well, meet the new Ferrari Roma!

Understated Luxury

Based on the Ferrari Portofino, the new Ferrari Roma is an ultra high performance turbocharged V8 model placed between the Portofino and the F8 Tributo in Ferrari's range of sports cars. It represents a renaissance for a Ferrari that embodies understated luxury. With its distinctive flair and style, the car is a contemporary representation of the care-free, pleasurable way of life that characterised Rome in the 1950s and ‘60s. An era that we are particularly fond of here at Artworth.

Elegant, pure Design

Ferrari is known for their recognisable designs. For the Roma's exterior, the Ferrari Styling Centre went for an approach which gravitates around clean design and absolute symbiosis between its various elements. Harmonious proportions are complimented with pure, elegant volumes. To underline this thoughtful minimalism, all superfluous detailing has been removed.

Sport & Performance

The Ferrari Roma represents the pinnacle of performance in its category. This is thanks to its turbo-charged V8 from the family of engines that has won the overall International Engine of the Year Award four years running. In this version, the engine reaches 620 cv at 7500 rpm and is coupled with the new 8-speed DCT gearbox that was introduced on the SF90 Stradale. It is no surprise that this V8 Engine impresses with an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

The Ferrari Roma's chassis benefits from the technology developed by Ferrari for its new generation models. Both body-shell and chassis have been redesigned to incorporate the latest weight reduction and advanced production technologies. An impressive 70% of its components are entirely new, resulting in the best weight/power ratio in its segment (2.37 kg/cv). This enhances overall handling dynamics and responsiveness.

Ferrari Roma in Gstaad

We had the opportunity to test drive the Ferrari Roma in the beautiful area of Gstaad in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Here, winding roads on scenic routes offer amazing conditions. As we take the sports car for a spin, we immediately fall in love with it. Unparalleled performance meets driving pleasure and distinctive Ferrari charms. What a combination!

Far too soon we have to return to our home base, the Gstaad Palace, where the test drive comes to an end. Now the question remains: Is the Ferrari Roma an F1 car in evening attire? Well, you would need to judge for yourself. Hence, we recommend you to book a test drive with your local dealer!

Are you ready for holidays amid the memorable and majestic peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau? Then join us and learn more about the iconic Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa. Here, an extraordinary experience awaits you!

Experiencing the Victoria-Jungfrau

The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa is located amid the mountains of the Bernese Highlands, overlooking the Jungfrau. The iconic hotel has a rich history spanning more than 150 years. It maintains its leading status in the luxury hotel sector by committing to the finest Swiss traditions of hospitality while still moving with times. Its exciting story starts in 1856 when the Pension Victoria opened in Interlaken in the foothills of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. In 1899, a domed central structure linked the Victoria with the Hotel Jungfrau to create the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU. During the Belle Époque royals, intellectuals, artists and authors from around the world flocked to stay at this Pearl of the Bernese Alps. The charm of that era shines through to this day in dazzling gilded mirrors, stucco and crystal. Another thing has remained constant over the years: their uncompromising tradition of heartfelt hospitality.

To step into a room or suite at the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa is to sense instinctively that this is a place of well-being, where hospitality is genuine. Here, guests can benefit from all the amenities of a Grand Hotel while enjoying ultimate privacy. To ensure each and every guest feels at home, all rooms and suites are decorated in classic style or in a range of contemporary moods. In the Deluxe Rooms, luxury meets well-being. They are characterized by subtly superior fabrics and clear lines. From the comfort of the bed, guests can enjoy views of the Jungfrau. The 25-square-meter room also has a corner seating unit, table and chairs and a generous newly renovated bathroom.

Apéro at Victoria Terrace & Bar

A relaxing cup of coffee in the morning or a refreshing cocktail at night – the Victoria Terrace, one of the trendiest lounges in Interlaken, invites to linger. Here we treat ourselves to apéro snacks, champagne and cocktails. All that in an unforgettable atmosphere with unique view of the Jungfrau.

The Victoria Bar is highly regarded among critics and seen as one of the 20 best hotel bars in Switzerland. It is a perfect place to linger, enjoying lively conversation with friends or loved ones in informal surroundings. Offering delicious modern-day cocktails, their bar menu leaves nothing to be desired. We particularly love their impressive range of single malts, cognacs and rum including a local Swiss single malt whisky.

Dinner at Sapori

The Italian art of cooking follows one simple principle: preparing the best ingredients in such a way that they retain their character. At the Victora-Jungfrau's Sapori, they live by this very principle. Here, antipasti, subtle creations like veal escalope with lime sauce, fresh fish and seafood as well as classic pasta dishes such as spaghetti alla carbonara are served. A must-try is their authentic pizza! The pizzaiolo makes our favorite pizzas right before our eyes. Needless to say that they are also offering a wide selection of wines from the best growing regions in Italy. Overall, we love how the Sapori offers the perfect ambience of Italian charms and traditions.

Salon Davidoff

Attached to the Victoria Bar is the «Salon Davidoff – Cigar Lounge», the place for cigar aficionados. Here we choose from a wide selection of cigar varieties from various growing regions (including Cuba). The friendly staff is happy to support us in selecting the perfect variety to enjoy in this place of tasteful surroundings. With our cigars, we pair Swiss Mountain Single Malt Whisky by a local distillery. It aged for seven years in Oloroso sherry barrels and convinces us with complex notes of vanilla and caramel. If you are keen on spending a true gent's weekend, then make sure to book their VJ Men's Connaisseur Circle package here.

Watch Town

Believe it or not but Interlaken is a true watch town. Few places are home to more watch boutiques and retailers than this beautifully situated town. Here, leading watch brands offer their novelties to sophisticated travelers looking to buy the ultimate souvenir: a Swiss watch! No surprise that OMEGA also has a boutique here. It is situated just 100 meters away from the Victoria-Jungfrau and has a great offering of novelties and classics like the Speedmaster or Seamaster models. Make sure to stop by here if you happen to be in Interlaken!

Unwinding at Spa Nescens

Interlaken is the gate to untamed nature and high mountain peaks. Naturally, thrill-seekers also need a place to relax. They find it at the 5500 m2 Spa Nescens which offers an outstanding health range in an elegant, lush green setting. Here, guests can unwind in a sauna complex, several steam baths, and a large and beautifully designed pool area as well as an outdoor Sole bath. We particularly enjoy the unique design of the spa offering a glimpse into the past of the grand hotel.

On her Majesty's Secret Service

Surrounded by more than 200 alpine peaks and embedded in a pristine mountain environment, the Piz Gloria is located at 2,970 meters above sea level. The instantly recognizable summit building takes pride of place on the Schilthorn summit. "The perfect hideout for a supervillain!" That's probably what the directors from the legendary James Bond 007 franchise thought before they started filming here from October 1968 to May 1969. The Schilthorn ended up being the main filming location for the iconic movie "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service".

The revolving summit restaurant served as the headquarters of James Bond's arch-nemesis Blofeld and was called "Piz Gloria" – a name it has kept to the present day. As we visit, we dive straight into the action at Bond World, the interactive exhibition dedicated to the movie. It features seven key scenes and plenty of film-related trivia. Guests can catch a glimpse of the original screenplay and test their own James Bond skills. Exhilarating Bond moments beckon during a fast and furious bobsleigh ride or a helicopter simulator flight in the original chassis of the decommissioned Air Glaciers Alouette III. For James Bond fans, the Schilthorn is definitely worth a visit!

To sum up, the Victoria-Jungfrau is a true pearl situated at the heart of the scenic Bernese Oberland. It is the perfect place for guests wanting to unwind after spending an exciting day on the Jungfraujoch, Harder Kulm, Lake Brienz or another of the countless world-class sights nearby. To us, it is fascinating to see that what started out as the pension Victoria in 1856 now stands as a flagship for the luxury hotel sector in Switzerland. A stay here is highly recommended!
