PAUL

Another classic option is this three piece suit by PAUL. The elegant fabric is slightly structured and can be complemented by a pocket square. Obviously, this look will also look great with a tie. Brown for example!

Tiger of Sweden

One of our favorite colors for spring is beige. The somewhat light-grey color usually comes in many different variations. This particular suit by Tiger of Sweden has a lightly structured fabric. The slim fit cut allows you to wear it with a dress shirt or even a t-shirt.

Windsor

If you want to keep it classy yet casual, we recommend you to go with a bi-color look. One of our all time favorite combos is a blue jacket with beige chinos. This classic combination can be worn with either a plain white dress shirt or shirts with patterns. It really depends on the occasion. This particular jacket is by Windsor. It offers a slim fit cut and is made of 100% wool of particularly high quality.

Some of the most exclusive classic cars racing on a snowy surface? On a frozen lake even? What sounds impossible, is actually an annual event in Switzerland: The ICE St. Moritz! Let's join the IWC Racing Team and their 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "Gullwing" for an unforgettable weekend.

The ICE St. Moritz

The ICE St. Moritz has been created to enjoy driving, showing and watching some of the world's most exciting motor cars in the unlikely environment of the frozen lake. The idea first came in mind in the mid-Eighties and it took many years to make it true.

It is a very different event, a refreshing concours. A completely magical environment where drivers, collectors, and just plain car enthusiasts enjoy a late winter day in the sunshine, surrounded by the landscape and atmosphere that only St. Moritz, at the top of the world, is able to offer.

For more than a century, St. Moritz has developed its unique formula that has drawn generations of enthusiastic tourists: a cosmopolitan mix of nature, exclusiveness, sports, and luxury. One of the pillars of this philosophy is the Cresta Run. Here, people from all over the world come together with the goal of speeding down an icy track.

In January 1985, a group of British Cresta Run Members, led by Scotsman Keith Schellenberg, drove to St. Moritz to enjoy the run. To make things more interesting, they decided to drive their vintage open Bentleys. When in St. Moritz, they saw the frozen lake and decided to do some laps on the horse racing track in their glorious sixty-year-old chariots. In that moment, the idea of The ICE was born. It then took some 34 years, until the first edition could take place.

IWC Schaffhausen

One of the key partners of The ICE St. Moritz is its official timekeeper IWC Schaffhausen. The innovative company is deeply rooted in American pioneering spirit and entrepreneurship. Florentine Ariosto Jones, a watchmaker from Boston, founds the International Watch Company in 1868. He draws on the help of eminently qualified Swiss watchmakers, modern technology, and hydro-power sourced from the nearby River Rhine to manufacture pocket watch movements of the highest possible quality.

IWC launches the first "Special Pilot's Watch" in 1936. In 1939, the Portuguese watch is born: two importers from Portugal order a series of large wristwatches with high-precision pocket watch calibers. In response to demand, IWC develops in 1940 the Big Pilot's Watch 52 T.S.C. with a central seconds hand. It features a rotating bezel with an arrowhead index that can be used to register take-off times. It is also fitted with an anti-magnetic escapement.

For racing, the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 is the perfect choice. It comes in a robust stainless steel case and is equipped with the reliable self-winding 69385 Calibre. This IWC-manufactured movement offers up to 46 hours of power reserve.

IWC Racing

In 2018, the brand founded a motorsport team, becoming the first watch brand to compete in classic car races with its own team and car. Since then, the IWC Racing Team has contested select historic racing events in its chosen car: The 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "Gullwing".

One of the most iconic sports cars ever built, the "Gullwing" dates back to the time when IWC's watchmakers designed the first Engineer. With its characteristic doors reminiscent of a seagull's wings, it was manufactured by Daimler-Benz between 1954 and 1957 as a road-ready version of the 300 SL racing car. Motor racing enthusiasts are very passionate about the "Gullwing", and it perfectly embodies IWC's core values of style, quality, originality and outstanding craftsmanship.

Born in Salzburg in 1991, Laura Kraihamer joined the IWC racing family in 2021. She made her debut for the IWC Racing Team on the occasion of the 78th Goodwood Members' Meeting. At the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "Gullwing", Kraihamer raced in the Stirling Moss Trophy. We're excited to see her race at The ICE St Moritz this year!

Kulm Country Club

A special highlight of The ICE St. Moritz is the exclusive dinner hosted for collectors by IWC Schaffhausen. It is held at the Kulm Country Club. At this spot on 11 February 1928, top athletes and celebrities gathered, including film legend Charlie Chaplin and US President Calvin Coolidge. They followed the action on the ice rink in front of the pavilion from the finely carved arched windows. These beautifully carved windows are still as attractive today following the recent renovations to this architectural gem. The original Art Deco and wood was preserved.

One floor down, on the ground floor, is the heart of the Kulm Country Club. During the 1928 Olympic Winter Games, guests, locals, and athletes stomped through the large circular arch in the entrance area. These Games were the first official Olympic Winter Games. Visitors were proud to arrive in St. Moritz driving their new Bugatti Royale or Mercedes-Benz Type S: the superlative hand-built vehicles of the 1920s. The ice rink of the Kulm Country Club soon became a landmark meeting point both for guests and locals in St. Moritz. Those who did not dare to put on ice skates watched the figure skaters - the social highlight at the winter sports resort in 1928.

After a break last year, we are back in St. Moritz for White Turf 2022! The thrilling horse race on the frozen Lake St. Moritz is a major event. But not just one with champagne on ice for the rich and beautiful. It is an annual event where race-horse owners, trainers and jockeys from all over the world meet up as well as being an unmissable fixture on the calendar for local people. Let's dive into this fascinating world - together with Longines!

White Turf 2022

Thanks to perfect weather, as well as impeccable snow and ice conditions on Lake St. Moritz, 9'000 spectators made their way to the lake on this beautiful Sunday. After the first flat race, one of the first highlights takes place: The Credit Suisse skijoring. Praetorius, one of the favorites, loses his rider right at the start. Vienna Woods takes advantage and wins easily against Sociopath.

Up next is the GP Longines. Here, the horses compete in a flat race over 1,800 meters. Jockey Sibylle Vogt immediately takes the lead with Mordred and never relinquishes it. The Hungarian guest Arktisz comes in second ahead of Nimrod, a former winner of the Grand Prix of St. Moritz.

The Land Rover Defender is one of the most iconic cars out there. Since its introduction in 1983, it has remained true to its core values as an off-road vehicle. With the latest version, the British brand wants to prove that the Defender is equally at home on tarmac and dirt roads. So, what's our take on the Land Rover Defender 90?

Smooth on the Road

When driving the new Land Rover Defender 90one notices an undeniable road presence. At almost 2 meters in height and width, we overlook most other vehicles on the road, while sitting in the driver seat. Surprisingly, the car remains maneuverable and doesn't feel as bulky as one might expect. With its 400hp, it also delights with great power in situations requiring acceleration and speed.

A huge step was taken in terms of driver assistance. The Land Rover Defender 90 now comes with state-of-the-art cruise control, speed limiter, land keep assist and 3D surround camera. A digital instrument panel and a large 11-inch entertainment screen offer easy accessibility to all these features.

Overall, the interior of the Land Rover Defender 90 is a clever mix of utility and discreet luxury. A combination the British brand is well known for. True to its DNA, there's a tastefully integrated rustic feel to the interior. Exposed bolts are on the doors and metal is visible on both the steering wheel and dashboards. Still, we don't have to miss modern day luxuries like heated seats, 3D panoramic cameras and a Meridian sound system. All we can ask for as businessmen when driving on the highway or in the city. But what about the explorer inside of us, would he buy it too?

Serious Off-Road Capabilities

While most consumers don't drive their SUVs off-road, someone in Switzerland or the Scottish Highlands might! And this is where the Land Rover Defender 90 differs from its competition. It can conquer a wide range of terrains, from snowy mountains to deserts and rivers.

The engineers equipped it with all necessary tools to prevail when facing rough terrain. The most important is its electronically controlled suspension. At the push of a button, the ground clearance can be lowered by 40mm, or raised by 75mm to 145mm. This radically transforms the height of the car and allows it to overcome any obstacle. Aided by its 4-wheel drive, it has a variety of driving modes that will support the pilot in challenging situations. One example is the elevated air intake. With it we don't have to worry about crossing rivers or cruising through deserts.

Our Take on the new Land Rover Defender 90

For us, the new Land Rover Defender 90 strikes the perfect balance between the iconic Defender look and feel and modern day comfort and safety. The updated infotainment and driver assistance make it comfortable to drive on the road while the off-road capabilities have also been enhanced further. In our opinion, this is the perfect vehicle for someone looking to drive an iconic SUV that comes with modern technology.

Originating from Sweden, Carl Friedrik decided to re-invent the way of traveling. In pursuit of achieving high quality and a functional design, they developed a wide range of products. Two items particularly caught our attention. Let’s get hands-on!

For Travel...

Have you ever found yourself hurrying to the airport, dragging bulky suitcase behind you that had a missing wheel? Or did you ever stand in line at the check-in, realizing that your phone is almost dead? Carl Friedrik offers a stylish solution for both problems. Their suitcase guarantees a careless travel experience.

Since we often have short overnight stays, we usually only bring a carry-on. Few suitcases are as stylish than the ones by Carl Friedrik. Made from aluminium, they also bear high-quality leather details. Thanks to the Japanese spinner wheels, their carry-on is incredibly easy to manoeuvre. Not only that, but the suitcase also even follows you silently. You won’t be having any directional troubles.

When opening the carry-on, you will find two sets of compression straps and a compression pad, which will keep your things in place. This setup enables you to have clothes that don’t need ironing upon arrival. Another convenient feature is the option to add a battery inside the case. Two USB-A outlets are added to the suitcase like that, and you will be able to charge your electronic devices on the go.

...and for Work!

If you travel for work, Carl Friedrik has your back too. Their leather Palissy Briefcase can be used as a work portfolio in which you can put your laptop and documents. Thanks to the option for a smart holder, this briefcase it the ideal addition to your carry-on.

Made from luxurious Vachetta leather, this briefcase is nearly unmatched in terms of quality. The same leather is used by many luxury brands to craft bags. Guess what, comparable bags are almost never available below USD 1’000. Hence, you are sure to get great value for money. You will keep your goods safe, and you can travel efficiently in style.

Our Take on Carl Friedrik

In short, the set of Carl Friedrik carry-on and briefcase is your assurance for a quality travel experience. Keep your laptop safe and your linen shirts in a good condition. All that while arriving with a fully charged phone.

On a crisp winter day, the silent countryside is pierced by the deep growl of a compressed v8, occasionally interrupted by its own gun-like exhaust. This unmistakable sound belongs to the Jaguar F-Pace SVRthe British brand's supercharged SUV. First released in 2018, it received a slight facelift in 2021 to keep up with the times. And it is now equipped with a state-of-the-art infotainment system and has received upgrades to its interior finishes. Let's have a look together!

The Jaguar F-Pace SVR's Engine and Handling

Powered by a 550bhp compressed v8, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR offers 516nm of torque to all four wheels. No need to say that you feel sheer power when putting your right foot down. The 8-speed automatic transmission is almost instantaneous, although it is not the smoothest. This results in a responsive car that reacts quickly when the driver presses the accelerator. For more sensitive driving, we recommend you stay in comfort or economy mode.

One thing to keep in mind when purchasing a new Jaguar F-Pace SVRare the costs associated with its ownership. This vehicle consumes a minimum of 9l/100km when driving at its best. But with the slightest acceleration you can see it climb to 30l/100km. A quick trip can therefore get expensive quite quickly. That being said, nothing else is expected from an engine of this size.

High-end finishing

Walking around the Jaguar F-Pace SVR for the first time, we immediately notice the well finished exterior with aerodynamic lines. Without having a too aggressive appearance, its SUV spirit remains intact. On the other hand, some crucial parts like the side skirts, air vents and front air intakes are made from plastic instead of carbon fiber for example. Considering the overall quality of the car, this is a bit disappointing.

Still, the car is very well finished overall, with the interior feeling particularly nice. The cockpit offers the perfect mix of sport and luxury. The leather sport seats keep the driver strapped in, even at high speeds. A crucial feature!

When it comes to the infotainment system, Jaguar has made big improvements with its latest update. The new Jaguar F-Pace SVR now comes equipped with an 11-speaker Meridian audio system. Plus, it now has a large 11.4-inch touchscreen on the center column. Both Apple Carplay and Android Auto are now seamlessly integrated with wireless connectivity.

What's our Take?

With the 2022 facelift of the Jaguar F-Pace SVRJaguar has delivered a much needed update on connectivity and infotainment. While retaining the car's DNA as a highly dynamic SUV, it is capable of both comfort and performance. The compressed v8 lives up to its promise, delivering torque and sound when needed.

If you are looking to spend north of CHF 120'000 on a sports SUV, then the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is a serious contender to other vehicles in this category. So make sure to schedule a test drive soon! If you are more interested on an electric vehicle, then check out this article about the Jaguar I-Pace.

The Swiss watch brand OMEGA is updating its iconic Speedmaster family with seven new timepieces that are part of the Speedmaster Chronoscope collection. The timepieces take inspiration from OMEGA's chronograph wristwatches from the 1940s. Let's discover these novelties together!

Hands-on with the Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope

With the Speedmaster ChronoscopeOMEGA is returning its vintage roots and rich history. The leaf-shaped hands and three "snail" timing scales on the dial give these watches a clear link to 1940s watchmaking. There's also an elegant addition of a "spiral" track pattern that runs beneath the Arabic numerals. We love how the style is very similar to the spiralling subdials one finds on most Speedmaster models.

Attached to each 43 mm case, the watches can either be worn on leather straps or the new Speedmaster steel bracelets. These polished-brushed stainless steel bracelets have already won our hearts. We love OMEGA's patented comfort release adjustment system.

Surprisingly, a new calibre has been developed for this collection of Speedmaster watches. Through the sapphire crystal on the caseback, owners can view the manual-winding OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9908. Now let's get to the functionalities of the watch. Printed in a 1940s "snail" design, each dial reveals a three different scales for measuring. But what exactly?

What to measure with the Speedmaster Chronoscope

Tachymeter - The Chronoscope can tell how fast you are going, based on how far you have travelled. As the scale measures the average travel time between two specific points, it makes no difference whether the journey is in miles of kilometers.

Telemeter - With a simple two-step process, OMEGA's precision tool can tell you exactly how far you are from something that is visible and audible, such as a lightning storm.

Pulsometer - Too slow, too fast, or just right? Thanks to this 30-pulse-per-minute scale, you can measure your own or someone else's heartbeat.

The Artworth Favorites

Among the seven watches of the new OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope collection, we love two models in particular. Let's have a closer look at them!

Bronze Gold on Leather

The first model has been crafted in OMEGA's exclusive Bronze Gold. Not only does this one-of-a-kind material deliver a beautiful pink hue, but it also offers incomparable corrosion-resistance. The classic look is completed with a brown leather strap, a polished brown ceramic bezel with a "vintage" enamel tachymeter scale, and an oxidized bronze dial with a special patina and opaline finish. This Reference 329.92.43.51.10.001 is beautiful, right?

Blue Dial on Steel

The other one is crafted in stainless steel with a blue dial with silvery subdials. Along with a blue anodized aluminum bezel ring with its tachymeter scale, the leaf-shaped hands and Arabic numerals are rhodium-plated. Finally, the new Speedmaster bracelet rounds off this Reference 329.30.43.51.03.001 wonderfully!

An essential part of the festive season is coming together with friends and family to catch up and enjoy each others company. Did you ever notice that at the heart of these activities is always food? That's why we made our way up to the iconic Bürgenstock Resortsituated high above Lake Lucerne, to do a Festive Season Tasting in four of their restaurants. From classic French cuisine to oriental flavors, there is something for every taste!

The Oak Grill

Our Festive Season Tasting starts at The Oak Grill Restaurant. Awarded with 14 Gault & Millau points, this restaurant celebrates Farm-to-Table from Nose-to-Tail. It is famous for its fine wood-fired grill that imparts exclusive flavors to Swiss gourmet meats. The atmosphere here is warm, cozy and yet classy thanks to a centered fireplace that sets a unique atmosphere. A great place to spend a night celebrating during the holidays.

The feast starts with a foie gras parfait, artfully shaped into a duckling. It continues with a delicious monkfish before an "Entrecôte Double" from a local farm is served. What a delight! For dessert, we get surprised by a beautiful Christmas tree covered in chocolate. Inside, it is filled with Griottes cherries, cinnamon and Centenario Concha 70%. A thing of beauty that looks almost too wonderful to eat!

Ritzcoffier

Contemporary French cuisine takes center stage at Ritzcoffier. Here, creatively composed menus focus on the finest ingredients mainly sourced from local producers. Seasonal dishes are paired with regional flavors, all combined with luxurious attention to detail.

Our evening begins with a deliciously tender Balik salmon, served with three free-range eggs and caviar. A wonderful start to an unforgettable evening. The salmon is followed by a "foie gras au torchon" with figs, port wine and local Bürgenstock honey. This is accompanied by a delicious brioche. We continue with a Breton lobster before the traditional "Beef Wellington" is served. This is a fillet of Hereford beef in a coating of truffle and puff pastry. Simply divine!

For dessert we are treated to a "Snow White Dome". This dome of white chocolate surrounds a cleverly composed dessert of citrus, basil and yogurt. The evening doesn't end here, however. A Christmas themed Friandise Trolley is wheeled up to the table. Artfully decorated, a variety of delicious chocolates are offered. The perfect ending to a wonderful evening!

Spices Kitchen Terrace

The Restaurant Spices Kitchen & Terrace with its oriental cuisine brings authentic flavors from Japan, China, India and Thailand to the heart of Switzerland. Awarded 16 Gault & Millau points, this restaurant offers not only gastronomy on a high level, but also magnificent views over Lake Lucerne.

Our feast here begins with a selection of delicious appetizers. Among them the delicious "Sushi Meshi Age No Avocado". It is crispy rice with avocado and a fresh mango salsa. With it, "Pla Hoy Shell Gub Kamin Kaow" is served. It is a salad with scallops in a homemade roasted chili paste and white turmeric. Extremely delicious! The third dish is called "Chai Shao Su". These Chinese-style baked Char Siu pork patties are a delightful taste experience.

The next course is a Seafood Paitan Soup. This classic Japanese seafood cream soup is enriched with shimeji mushrooms. Delicious! After the soup, three dishes are served again. All are shared among us at the table. One of them is "Khao Soi Gea", a noodle curry prepared in the northern Thai style with lamb. It is accompanied by an Indian "Awadhi Murg", a low-cooked chicken with cashews, shredded coconut & yogurt sauce. The third dish is a Sichuan "Zhang Dou Xia". These wok-fried giant shrimp are enriched with Sichuan pepper, crispy garlic and snake beans.

For dessert we get treated with a divine creation called "Spices Christmas Surprise". A wonderful creation with bananas, pistachios, and litchi.

Lakeview Bar & Cigar Lounge

The Bürgenstock Signature high tea offers a mid-afternoon break to indulge in conversation and culinary delights. It is offered at the Lakeview Bar & Cigar Lounge which is characterized by its floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows overlooking Lake Lucerne. For the festive season, guests can now look forward to an Afternoon Tea of a special kind. Of course, scones must not be missing. These are enjoyed with various garnishes such as passion fruit cream, jam and clotted cream.

Furthermore, the Classic Afternoon Tea Sandwiches are served. These are accompanied by truffled arancini balls with Taleggio cheese. We found these particularly delicious. They go great with a glass of champagne! For the meat lovers, there is beef tartare and a delicious foie gras quiche with veal. If you prefer something lighter, you will love the salmon sandwich with lake trout caviar!

Of course, sweet pastries are a must for an Afternoon Tea. Especially during the Christmas season! We enjoy a hazelnut choux, a Santa hat made with linzer tart and cranberry, and other treats like gingerbread or an apple Christmas treat. As a special highlight there is also a Gugelhupf from chestnut and with spices. Simply delicious!
