Ruinart Eva Jospin Art Basel Carte Blanche Basel Les Trois Rois Artworth

Embark on a Champagne Promenade

Imagine taking a leisurely stroll through the picturesque Champagne region, immersing yourself in its breathtaking landscapes, hidden rituals, and the intertwined vines glistening under the sun. Ruinart's "Promenade(s) en Champagne" exhibition captures the essence of this experience, allowing you to feel a profound connection with the land and its evolution over time.

As the guest artist for Ruinart's Carte Blanche 2023, Eva Jospin presents her interpretation of the Maison's terroir. She perceives the Montagne de Reims as a cross-section of geographical and temporal layers, both real and imaginary. Inspired by the region's richness and historical significance, from the deep-lying crayères (chalk cellars) to the intertwined vine roots, from the coronation of French kings in the Reims Cathedral to Ruinart's elevation to nobility, Jospin invites us to explore this mystical world where history, vegetation cycles, life, and creation intertwine.

A Stop on Art Basel's World Tour

Following its opening event in Paris earlier this year, the Carte Blanche exhibition by Ruinart travels the world, revealing itself to art enthusiasts across different continents. In June 2023, Art Basel in Basel serves as the next destination for this remarkable exhibition.

As part of the global journey, Carte Blanche offers a gastronomic and artistic interpretation through the "Food for Art" program. Eva Jospin collaborates with local chefs, bringing together the culinary delights of the region with her artwork. It's a unique sensory experience that tantalizes both the palate and the imagination. In Basel, she teams up with Les Trois Rois. Here, tables are spectacularly set for the occasion: a setting of history, encounter and conviviality. It's an experience that combines art and gastronomy to celebrate the aesthetics of craftsmanship - in the kitchen, in the wine cellar or in the artistic creation.

Carmontelle by Eva Jospin

At the heart of this year's Carte Blanche exhibition lies Eva Jospin's sculptural landscape, meticulously crafted using her preferred medium - cardboard. Her installation comprises a series of masterpieces, reliefs, drawings, and embroideries arranged around a Carmontelle, reminiscent of the 18th-century era when Ruinart was founded. The Carmontelle, an invention of the Enlightenment era, serves as the narrative architecture of Carte Blanche. It unfolds a story without words, drawing connections between underground crayères, vineyards, nature, architecture, and the artist's handiwork in the studio, mirroring the intricate processes involved in champagne production. The intertwining motif echoes the vine tendrils, symbolizing the sublime connection between these two worlds.

Eva Jospin's "chefs-d'œuvre" are cardboard sculptures that invite us to explore the region in miniature. These intricate pieces, displayed on two levels, juxtapose representations of natural landscapes with architectural forms, paying homage to the historical crayères. The sculptures captivate with tiny staircases that lead us deep into Ruinart's cellars.

In the mystical realm of whisky, where legends are born and flavors are crafted, something extraordinary has occurred at the Ardbeg Distillery. A peculiar absence has disrupted the delicate balance that has defined Ardbeg whiskies for years. The renowned purifier on the still, responsible for the distillery's exalted harmony, has vanished without a trace. The consequence? Ardbeg Heavy Vapours, a whisky that defies convention and embraces the untamed. Let's delve into the enigmatic tale of Ardbeg Heavy Vapours, a Committee Exclusive, and explore the dark and aromatic journey it offers to those lucky enough to savor its unique character.

Unleashing the Heavy Vapours

Ardbeg Heavy Vapours emerges as an ominous dram, challenging the senses with its dramatic and aromatic pungency. The initial observations begin with its pale straw color. The nose reveals a captivating interplay of aromas. Smoke rises, entwined with a delicate sweetness. A distinct farmyard scent drifts, accompanied by the crunchy aroma of charcoal. A splash of water disturbs the vapors, giving rise to billows of dark chocolate cream infused with a ribbon of smoked artichoke. The fragrance is both intense and pungent, intriguing the adventurous whisky enthusiast.

Upon tasting Ardbeg Heavy Vapours, the untamed flavors and notes that have risen come to life. A burst of bittersweetness surges forward, evoking the sensation of ashy coal dust. A haze of cardamom, peppermint, and coffee grits envelops the palate, captivating and challenging the taste buds. Clouds of dark chocolate and mentholic eucalyptus roll in, obscuring the usually prominent fruit and floral notes that Ardbeg whiskies are known for.

The finish of Ardbeg Heavy Vapours leaves a lasting impression. The aftertaste lingers long and bold, with an almost anaesthetizing sensation, as if the whisky has woven a spell of captivating flavors that refuse to fade away.

A Privilege for Ardbeg Committee Members

Ardbeg Heavy Vapours Committee Exclusive is a whisky that embraces exclusivity. As a tribute to its unique character, it is reserved solely for Ardbeg Committee Members. As watch enthusiasts, we're always on the lookout for the next game-changing creation that will propel the industry forward. In a world of ever-expanding horological wonders, it's often the pursuit of innovation and fresh ideas that make a timepiece stand out the most. The Swiss brand Horage definitely ticks a lot of boxes in that regard: let’s have a closer look at the newly released Lensman 2!

A Watch for Photographers

Photography is one of our biggest passions here at Artworth - and the idea of combining watchmaking with photography is without a doubt very intriguing to us. The Lensman 2 by Biel/Bienne based Horage is equipped with a very unique Bezel that functions as an exposure calculator, combining the two worlds in a way that has never been done before. An impressive ISO and aperture range is offered on the bi-directional bezel for quick referencing between your shots. This allows the watch to show you the optimal values for your camera when the markings on the bezel are aligned with your current lighting conditions. Fascinating, no?

This highly innovative function reinvents the definition of a modern daily tool watch in our eyes. The watch satisfies both form and function and gives off old-school vintage vibes, while maintaining a sleek and clean overall look and feel. In addition to the unique Bezel, the watch also features a GMT 24 hour jump set. This is ideal for photographers exploring the globe, keeping track of multiple time zones.

A Look inside the Horage Lensman 2

Of course, as you would expect from a Horage timepiece, the heart of the watch doesn’t disappoint either: The in-house K2 micro-rotor is accompanied by a 24-hour GMT module that packs a strong 72 hour power reserve. This highly sophisticated movement is also properly protected: both the crown as well as the case itself are made from polished grade 5 titanium to make sure the COSC Chronometer Certified timepiece won't be damaged.

At Artworth, we love the Horage Lensman 2 for multiple reasons. It's a timepiece that visually and functionally reinvents the definition of what a true modern-day tool watch can and should be. We’re convinced that anyone with a strong passion for either photography or watchmaking will fall in love with the Lensman 2, just as we did!

Which complication is the most useful in a dive watch? We would argue having a GMT is pretty helpful since many of us travel to exotic places to explore the colorful underwater world. Mido, the pioneer of watertight cases in the early 1930s, offers now exactly that. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of their iconic Ocean Star collection, the Swiss brand is launching a dive watch with GMT and even worldtimer function. Let's have a closer look at the Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer!

Mido Ocean Star Decompession Worldtimer

At Artworth we love vintage inspired timepieces. And the versatile neo-vintage diver watch by Mido is right up our alley! With an eye-catching color-scheme inspired by the 1960s, the Ocean Star Skin Diver comes with a contemporary case size of 40.5mm. To highlight the vintage look, the top of the case is fitted with a box-shaped sapphire crystal that is nicely complemented by a solid screw-down stainless steel case back.

Although most people will wear the Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer as "desk diver", it was developed for scuba diving. Equipped with a decompression scale, the watch helps divers plan their surface intervals. This was an incredibly impressive feature at the time of its predecessor’s release in the 1960s and made the Ocean Star world-famous among divers. Today, Mido has updated the watch with a Nivachron balance spring. It protects the timepiece from magnetism.

Mido - King of Waterproof

Inside the watch, the ETA-based Mido Cal. 80 GMT movement is ticking away. It offers an independently adjustable local hour hand. What is impressive about the Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer is certainly the price. At CHF 1'270, it is one of the most affordable GMT watches out there. On top of that, the watch also comes with a second strap included that can be changed at the click of a button.

Another impressive feature that makes this watch stand out is its legendary monocoque case that has been in production since 1959. Mido’s reputation as the “King of Waterproof” watches originates from this case model and of course their Aquadura System. The honorable reputation certainly doesn’t disappoint with the Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer either: Mido guarantees complete water resistance, even if the crown is not fully pushed in. This security is given by its innovative gasket system which uses a natural cork to seal the crown winding stem.

For us, the playful Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer is a great vintage-inspired dive watch that will make every traveler happy. The bidirectional rotating bezel which displays the names of different cities around the globe makes for a useful watch. In addition, the decompression scale makes the watch pop and will make heads turn.

London is a city that never fails to impress. With its vibrant culture, rich history, and unmatched fashion scene, it's no surprise that it's a top destination for many travelers. Recently, we visited the city to host our 6th Artworth at Bucherer event, the first one in the United Kingdom.

Exploring London

Our stay started with a good breakfast at White Mulberries at Hay's Galleria. In a city filled with incredible coffee shops and breakfast places, there is a lot to be discovered. White Mulberries has long been a favorite of ours because it obviously serves great coffee but has also an incredible banana bread on the menu.

After getting our coffee fix, it was time for some meetings around town. Driving around with the new Range Rover, we got to see some of the famous sights as well. It is impressive to see how the the City of London is ever evolving.

Luckily, some things don't change. For example the Big Benn and Westminster Abbey. Historical buildings like these never fail to impress us! Which is your favorite sight in London? Send us a message and let us know.

Scarfes Bar at Rosewood London

We decided to stay at the Rosewood Hotel during our trip to London. This luxury hotel is centrally located, in the city's Holborn neighborhood, and is renowned for its Scarfes Bar, which boasts an impressive selection of rare spirits.

Rosewood London Range Rover Artworth

One evening, we headed to the bar, where we met Martin Siska, a talented mixologist who crafted a delicious cocktail with cognac by Rémy Martin. We were thoroughly impressed with his expertise and enjoyed our drinks immensely.

Offering drawing room conviviality and gentleman’s club sophistication, this bar gives true meaning to the phrase ‘get scarfed’. A roaring fireplace and shelves filled with over 1,000 antique books complete the classy atmosphere. We were particularly impressed with the selection of fine and rare spirits available. The perfect time and place to enjoy a glass of Rémy Martin XO and play chess!

Artworth at Bucherer

After Paris and Munich, London was the third event we organized outside of Switzerland. As usual, guests had the opportunity to discover rare Bucherer Certified Pre-Owned models by Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and many more. Centrally located, the Bucherer boutique in Covent Garden was the perfect location to host this event!

We were thrilled with the turnout and enjoyed sharing our knowledge of mechanical watches and men's fashion with the attendees. Fielding & Nichols made sure that the guests got a good idea about the latest seasonal fabrics by Dormeuil. Meanwhile, Rémy Martin treated the attendees to some nice cocktails throughout the evening as well as hosting an exclusive XO tasting.

Our week in London was once more a fantastic experience. We relished exploring the city's fashion scene, trying new coffee shops, and learning more about the city's rich history. Co-hosting the event at Bucherer was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip, and we were delighted to share our passion for Swiss timepieces with fellow enthusiasts.

Our Artworth team recently organized an event in collaboration with OMEGA, and it was a night to remember. The event taking place at Zurich Airport's THE CIRCLE showcased some exclusive timepieces by OMEGA such as the newly released Speedmaster Super Racing. Let's look back on a great night among watch enthusiast!

Largest OMEGA Boutique in Europe

Did you know that OMEGA's largest boutique in Europe is neither in London nor Paris? It's located right at the Zurich Airport. Here, we welcomed 60 guests and treated them to a flying dinner, with dishes that delighted the palate and complemented the stylish ambiance of the venue. The open bar served gin & tonics and Negronis prepared by Deux Frères, which certainly added to the enjoyment of the evening.

As if mechanical watches and carefully prepared cocktails weren't enough, there was also Amarcord, presenting seasonal fabrics. The tailor's display was a perfect complement to the versatile OMEGA watches on display, providing guests with inspiration for their next outfit.

OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing

One of the highlights of the evening was certainly the Speedmaster Super Racing. This 44.25mm Speedy is the first timepiece in the world to include the Spirate™ System: OMEGA’s fine-tune balance spring mechanism. Its stylish exterior pays tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15’000 GAUSS launched in 2013. Our guests were among the first people in Switzerland to see this groundbreaking timepiece and it was very well received.

Omega Speedmaster Super Racing

Another popular watch was certainly the OMEGA Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award. This 50th anniversary timepiece pays tribute to the “Silver Snoopy Award” that OMEGA received from NASA astronauts in 1970, in recognition of the brand’s contributions to space exploration, including the Apollo 13 mission.

The World of OMEGA

The OMEGA Seamaster and Constellation collections were also well represented, with a variety of styles and designs that showcased the brand's commitment to quality and innovation in a wide range of areas. All watches were accessible and guests were able to try them on and get a feel for their exceptional craftsmanship.

In addition to the watches, the event also provided a unique opportunity to network with like-minded individuals. The atmosphere was vibrant and energizing, with guests sharing their experiences and insights into the latest trends and developments. Hence, the first ever OMEGA x Artworth event was a huge success. It provided a memorable evening of style, elegance, and luxury, with watches that dazzled and drinks that delighted. It's safe to say that everyone who attended left with a newfound appreciation for the art and craft of watchmaking!

IWC Schaffhausen brings the Ingenieur back to life! The Swiss watchmaker has recently introduced a new automatic model that takes inspiration from Gérald Genta's Ingenieur SL Ref. 1832 from the 1970s. This new Ingenieur Automatic 40 combines modern technology, ergonomic design, and top-notch finishing with a bold 70s aesthetic. Making it a watch enthusiast's dream and the ultimate luxury sports watch for the 21st century. Let's have a closer look!

Gérald Genta's Legacy

Famous designer Gérald Genta's Ingenieur SL Ref. 1832 disrupted the watch industry with its innovative technology, groundbreaking design, and the use of steel. Back in the 70s this material was new and revolutionary in the watch industry. The Ingenieur SL Ref. 1832 challenged traditional notions of watchmaking and still remains one of the most sought-after watches among collectors and connoisseurs. The new IWC Schaffhausen automatic model takes inspiration from this timeless masterpiece and offers a modern take on it.

Equipped with an automatic movement, the new Ingenieur features a reworked case dimension with a lug-to-lug distance of 45.7mm, ensuring an ideal fit on the wrist. The bezel is secured with characteristic polygonal screws that have a technical function while keeping the design consistent. A "Grid" structure was stamped into the soft iron blank of the dial, making it very recognizable. The wonderful appliques glisten with luminescence, adding depth and ensuring legibility even in the dark.

IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 Watches & Wonders Artworth

The New Ingenieur Automatic 40

IWC Schaffhausen's Ingenieur Automatic 40 is available in three stainless-steel versions with dials in black, silver-plated, and aqua. Additionally, there is also one particular version in super-light titanium. This one is one-third lighter than steel, and its skin-friendly and anti-allergic properties make it practically perfect for your wrist. However, working with titanium is a challenge. We're glad to see that IWC has a handle on it. As pioneers of titanium watches in the '80s, they have maintained their prowess in "Form und Technik," and the grade 5 titanium case and bracelet versions are no exception.

Modern movement technology has been added to the new Ingenieur. It is now powered by the IWC-manufactured 32111 caliber, offering a power reserve of 120 hours. Characteristically, its soft-iron inner case protects it from any magnetic fields, making it a watch built to withstand the pressures of life. That was also the original selling point of the Ingenieur. Its name meaning "engineer", it was designed for professional use in factories, labs or hospitals.

An integrated H-link bracelet featuring a butterfly folding clasp has been added to the new Ingenieur. We love the elaborate finishing that combines polished and satin-finished surfaces, highlighting the outstanding craftsmanship at IWC Schaffhausen. A newly designed crown protection further adds to the timepiece's sporty character.

In summary, the new Ingenieur Automatic 40 combines modern technology, ergonomic design, and top-notch finishing with a bold 70s aesthetic. We think this, in combination with its heritage, makes it the ultimate luxury sports watch for the years to come. Its impeccable craftsmanship and sporty character make it a watch that is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.

During this year's Watches & Wonders fair in Geneva, Jaeger-LeCoultre has unveiled four new Reverso Tribute Small Seconds models. Three of them in a beautiful pink gold. Let us take you on a journey of watchmaking excellence!

A timeless modern Classic

Since its inception in 1931, the Reverso has been a symbol of timeless elegance and sophistication. Originally designed for polo players, its rectangular case and slide-and-swivel mechanism were ideal for protecting the watch from the rigors of the sport. Over the years, the Reverso has become much more than just a watch for polo players. It has become an icon in the world of watchmaking, appreciated for its clean symmetry and distinctive style.

Reverso Tribute Small Seconds

The Reverso Tribute Small Seconds is a contemporary interpretation of this classic, featuring sunbrushed dial variations that create a beautiful contrast with the clean symmetry of the Reverso design. Overall, Jaeger-LeCoultre has launched four new models. In addition to a stainless steel variant with a subtle silvered opaline dial and contrasting black hands and indexes, there are three timepieces with a pink cold case. They come in burgundy, black and silver color variants. We love how all these timepieces revive the codes of the first Reverso born in 1931 - gadroons, applied indexes, dauphine hands - while being resolutely modern.

The Reverso Tribute Small Seconds is highly ergonomic, following the natural curve of the wrist. We love how it evokes the exclusive world of polo and is equipped with a matching strap designed by Casa Fagliano. It creates a unified aesthetic and strong sense of style that underlines the timeless modernity of the Reverso design.

In-House Calibre 822

For this novelty, the manually wound calibre 822 was chosen by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The movement was entirely designed, produced, and assembled in-house. What fascinates us about the calibre 822 is its uncommon rectangular shape that allows it to fit perfectly into the Reverso case. With elegant simplicity, hours and minutes are indicated by dauphine hands, while on the lower half of the dial, the circular track of the small seconds display - a pure expression of its mechanical movement - provides a counterpoint to the linear geometry of the dial and case.

In conclusion, the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds continues to tell the story of this iconic watch. It showcases the art of watchmaking and the brand's commitment to innovation and craftsmanship. With its timeless modernity, it is a watch that will stand the test of time and remain a classic for generations to come.

For 250 years, Veuve Clicquot has spread its solaire culture across the world, standing out for its boldness, creativity, and innovation. For the new cuvée La Grande Dame 2015, the champagne house continues to assert its culture of optimism, this time through a collaboration with the Italian designer Paola Paronetto and master chefs around the globe. Join us as we attend the official launch in Switzerland at the table of Michelin-starred Chef Dario Cadonau.

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015

The Legacy of Madame Clicquot

The story of Veuve Clicquot is one of constant reinvention, and yet it remains closely linked to the destiny of an exceptional woman: Madame Clicquot. Within just a few years, “la grande dame de la Champagne,” as she became known, created the first vintage champagne (1810), the riddling process, which is still used in Champagne today (1816), and the first known blended rosé champagne (1818). In homage to this grande dame, Maison Veuve Clicquot created its eponymous prestige cuvée.

Today, the cuvée La Grande Dame acts as the signature and showcase for Maison Veuve Clicquot’s wine making excellence and its savoir-faire. Madame Clicquot was particularly fond of Pinot Noir. She used to say:

Our black grapes give the finest white wines.

Madame Clicquot

This versatile grape variety expresses itself differently according to its terroir and the year in which it is harvested. It requires the finest expertise from the Cellar Master and his teams. Consequently, Veuve Clicquot decided to use at least 90% in their La Grande Dame cuvées.

La Grande Dame 2015

A solaire vintage, La Grande Dame 2015 is faithful to Madame Clicquot’s vision. Pinot Noir finds its greatest expression in this blend (+90%), enhanced by a touch of Chardonnay (10%). This cuvée is a feat of winemaking, with an immense aging potentiation of more than 15 years. It reveals its exceptional verticality thanks to the Pinot Noirs from the historic Crus of its terroir, which is among the most prestigious in Champagne: Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Ay.

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015 IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau Dario Cadonau VIVANDA

2015 was an exceptional year for Champagne. After a very mild winter, spring began with a particularly cold period, followed by high temperatures. In the month of June, plenty of sun and little rain produced a homogeneous flowering. The grapes harvested in mid-September, in the coolness of fall, have given birth to a great vintage.

La Grande Dame 2015 is all about tension and elegance. It offers freshness and minerality on the nose, with light floral notes of jasmine and acacia that evolve towards fruity notes of pear and clementine. In the mouth, its texture is subtle and silky.

Marie Charlemagne, Winemaker at Veuve Clicquot

For the new cuvée La Grande Dame 2015, Veuve Clicquot continues to assert its culture of optimism, this time through a collaboration with the Italian designer Paola Paronetto. A master of color, she has created a new collection of six gift boxes for Maison Veuve Clicquot in hues from her unique personal palette of more than 86 shades. Imbued with emotion, optimism and commitment, the whole is a symphony of colors that harmoniously blend together.

The Giganti

Internationally renowned artist Paola Paronetto is inspired by nature to create her works of art. She combines stylistic innovation and the traditions of ancient art with those of pottery. Over time, she has perfected an innovative technique that she calls Paper Clay, combining clay, cellulose fiber, and water. Always inspired by the beauty of the nature that surrounds her, Paola Paronetto sees colors as full and opaque, and has devised a palette of 86 tones that are her very own. The irregular shapes and raw texture of her objects create a graphic play of light that exalts the carefully chosen colors.

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015 IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau Dario Cadonau VIVANDA Paola Paronetto

To accompany this collaboration, Paola Paronetto has also created a sculptural work: the “Giganti”, composed of three colored sculptures in the form of standing bottles, which express the meeting of nature and materials in a poetic and tangible way. They also accompany a unique three-bottle vertical comprising three exceptional vintages of La Grande Dame (2008 / 2012 / 2015).

The Giganti are the ultimate expression of La Grande Dame’s message of optimism for the world. The largest and most majestic of the three Giganti is in Clicquot yellow – a symbol of the sun and of new days dawning, conveying optimism and the conviction that anything is possible. In Switzerland, the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau is the only place where the Giganti can be admired.

Interpretation by Dario Cadonau

Veuve Clicquot has teamed up with some of the world’s greatest chefs for a unique Garden Gastronomy experience: colors, textures, verticality, and gigantism are at the heart of the menu, reinterpreted for the occasion. In Switzerland, Michelin-starred Chef Dario Cadonau was invited to devise dishes where the combination of colors partners with the simplicity of the ingredients, always with fruit and vegetables taking center stage.

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015 IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau Dario Cadonau VIVANDA

Together with his wife Tamara, Dario Cadonau runs the smallest 5-star superior hotel in Switzerland. The IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau is also home to one of the largest Veuve Clicquot cellars in Europe. Here, in the beautiful Engadin valley, we are invited to experience his culinary interpretation of the verticality and gigantism of Paola Paronetto’s artistic works.

The evening is all about generosity, conviviality, and abundance. While enjoying wonderful dishes, we listen to Marie Charlemagne, winemaker at Veuve Clicquot. She explains what sets a prestige cuvée like La Grande Dame apart from other champagnes and how the climate in 2015 impacted their approach to crafting the latest vintage.

Reflecting the optimism of Veuve Clicquot, an immersive and convivial table has been specially designed for the occasion. The lavish decoration of the VIVANDA restaurant reminds us of a local farmer's market. In this beautiful setup, the joyous, vividly colored dishes reflect the vision of a confident and sustainable gastronomy straight from the garden.
