Experiencing the Gstaad Palace

After the check-in, we step right into the Lobby bar. Often called Gstaad's living room, it is a great place to come for tea, an aperitif or a nightcap. It is also here where the Cigar Lounge can be found. Large glass windows are not only facing the beautiful alpine landscape but also the Lobby Bar. Hence smokers don't get the sense of being separated from the other guests on the other side of the glass.

With the iconic Astronomia Tourbillon Black Gold by Jacob & Co. on our wrist, we are enjoying the breathtaking Alpine views and savoring a fine cigar. The perfect touch of elegance for this unforgettable moment.

At the Palace guests can choose form a large variety of room and suite categories. We stay in a wonderful corner suite with mountain view. Besides the bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, a large living room invites to settle down and enjoy the view.

One thing that is extraordinary about the Gstaad Palace is the renovation intervals. During every off-season, millions are invested into refurbishing parts of the historic hotel. Recently, the pool area was updated and now invites guest to dive into a world built around a modern take on Belle Epoque design.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

The history of Gstaad as tourism destination and the Gstaad Palace as its most iconic hotel is closely tied to the railway. When a line was established between Montreux and Zweisimmen, a sizeable detour via the farming hamlet of Gstaad was constructed. A visionary village teacher then built Gstaad's very first luxury hotel, supported by investors from Lausanne. The Gstaad Palace opened its doors in 1913, and has withstood wind and weather ever since.

If you are a fan of classic cars or simply looking for an unforgettable winter adventure, be sure to add THE ICE St. Moritz to your bucket list. Watching rare classic cars race on a frozen lake is a truly unique experience. After participating two times already we know that wearing the right watch to this world-class gathering truly elevates the experience. Hence we teamed up with Bucherer Certified Pre-Owned to offer you some inspiration for next year's edition. Let's have a closer look!

Artworth The Ice St. Moritz

Event Preparations

The night before the event check-in at the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau. It is the smallest 5-star superior hotel in Switzerland and is only a 30 minute drive away St. Moritz, which can get pretty crowded when events take place in town. Here we spend a wonderful evening enjoying some incredible food prepared by Michelin-star Chef Dario Cadonau. During the dinner we get the chance to talk watches.

One definitely wants to wear a chronograph during a classic car event. And one of the first chronographs coming to mind is of course the iconic Zenith El Primero. The movement is so precise and proven that it was used by many other brands back in the days. One of them was, you guessed it, Rolex! Their beloved Daytona was outfitted with the reliable El Primero movement during the years 1988 to 2000.

Another brand known for its chronograph watches is IWC. Although their Pilot's Watch was developed for aviation, it is often associated with racing as well. The brand certainly embraces that and is proud of its involvement in Formula One.

Attending THE ICE St. Moritz

The next morning, we finally step on the frozen Lake St. Moritz. An unbelievable amount of extremely rare cars can be admired during THE ICE. The fact that the owners of these gems drive the cars on snow and ice is just mind blowing!

Since it can get freezing cold on the lake, many of the spectators wear a thick coat or winter jacket. But no outfit is complete without an appropriate timepiece. One model we can certainly recommend is the Omega Speedmaster. The Racing edition is particularly suitable of course. Did you know that while the Speedy was the watch first worn on the moon, it was originally designed for racing?

Two more models underline the Speedy's racing heritage. One of them is the Omega Speedmaster Racing with a beautiful red dial and yellow second hand. Dubbed "Michael Schumacher" it pays tribute to the Ferrari which the German icon famously drove during his successful Form One career.

Another fun model is the Omega Speedmaster Tintin. Although the red and white checkered minute track reminds one of a race course, it was originally meant to be a nod to the Tintin's adventure in the "Explorers on the Moon" comics.

A more unconventional yet perhaps classier choice is the TAG Heuer Monaco. Its history is closely linked to racing. Hollywood actor Steve McQueen famously wore it in the movie "Le Mans". It is certainly a timepiece that belongs in every car enthusiast's watch collection.

Artworth Bucherer Certified Pre-Owned The Ice St. Moritz Tag Heuer Monaco

A more contemporary choice would be the Audemars Piguet Offshore. First released in 1993, it was launched at a time where bigger and bulkier watches really spoke to a younger generation. Even today, it is beloved among people who associate themselves with a more active lifestyle.

No matter which watch you choose, you will be sure to have a great time at THE ICE St. Moritz or any other classic car event!

Bucherer Certified Pre-Owned

Bucherer is at the heart of a new movement: pre-owned luxury! Certified Pre-Owned watches are authenticated by experts and worn by connoisseurs. Bucherer puts the opportunity to own a classic watch within reach and whether you're buying for keeps or looking to trade, they offer a constantly evolving roster of high-demand pieces to explore. As described in this article, every pre-owned watch comes with a story. What comes next is up to you!

St. Moritz Cocktail Week Kempinski Belvedere

The first St. Moritz Cocktail Week

The history of St. Moritz and its iconic institutions is the starting point of all creations. Barmen and women aim to create a real tasting experience through their cocktails while sharing the story behind their mixes. For the first edition of St. Moritz Cocktail Week, the guiding theme is "Postcards from St. Moritz". Bartenders follow this topic to create their own signature cocktail, served only from 16 - 19 February as a limited edition.

For the founding team around Annalisa Testa, the event is all about "have less, but the best". Hence, the aim of the festival is to educate people to drink responsibly and seek quality.

Opening Night at King's Social House

The Cocktail Week is kicked-off with a glamorous opening night at the King's Social House inside the iconic Badrutt's Palace. Since 1896, the hotel is located in the heart of St. Moritz. Its tower has been the symbol of one of the most beloved ski resorts in the world. In this atmosphere of elite luxury, there is King's Social House. As Switzerland's oldest nightclub, has evolved to a neo-bistro concept combining restaurant, bar and nightclub in one venue. Developed by Jason Atherton, the club sports a sophisticated approach to drinks and a lineup of roaming international DJs to keep St. Moritz rocking.

St. Moritz Cocktail Week Opening Night King's Social House Badrutt's Palace

For the opening night, Dirk Hany created a series of unique cocktails with the newly released Belvedere Altitude Edition. This premium vodka was specifically developed to be enjoyed in some of the world's most exclusive ski resorts.

During the opening night, bartenders, industry professionals and cocktail enthusiasts get to mingle and talk about their common passion: mixing world-class drinks! All that in the electric atmosphere of King's Social House with delicious snacks being served and amazing music being played by international DJ and current King's resident Stu Laurie.

Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz

After the opening night, the rest of the 15 cocktail bars open their doors to invite guests to enjoy their signature cocktails. One of the participating bars is located a bit outside the town center of St. Moritz inside the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski. Here, the talented bar team is serving a fruity cocktail with Veuve Clicquot champagne and vodka by Belvedere.

St. Moritz Cocktail Week Kempinski St. Moritz

Set in an iconic 1864 building, Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski combines elegant European luxury, meticulous service, and grand event venues in the Swiss Alps. The classy bar of the Grand Hotel is the perfect setting for an evening filled with mixology and friendly conversations. Soft music, some of the finest and unique cocktails, and a menu with International classics and the finest products from the Alps will set the tone for an unforgettable experience.

Paradiso Mountain Club & Restaurant

To elevate the St. Moritz Cocktail Week experience even more, Paradiso is also part of the event. The iconic mountain club is the place to be on St. Moritz' slopes. It can be reached by ski or by foot via the Suvretta Chairlift.

Enjoying cocktails on the sun-drenched terrace is simply a unique experience that is not to be missed. Surrounded by mountain peaks, cocktails somehow just taste better.

Balthazar

Back in the town of St. Moritz, we conclude our tour of mixilogy excellence at Balthazar. The venue symbolizes the beating, warm, friendly and yet informal heart of "la dolce vita" in St Moritz. As a concept restaurant, it cleverly enhances its traditional and genuine cuisine.
Here, food is prepared to the very highest of standards every day and at all hours in the most exclusive and exciting environment. A lot of pop art can be found here. Grabbing a cocktail and roaming around the place filled of wonders is a great way to conclude this first-ever St. Moritz Cocktail Week. We will be back!

The city's stunning backdrop offers the perfect scenery for their beautiful boutique on the iconic Rue du Rhône. As we step inside, we are instantly transported into a world of luxury and extravagance. We are mesmerized by the stunning timepieces on display and the intricate craftsmanship behind each one.

Twin Turbo

After our visit in the boutique and just as the sun sets, we stroll along Lake Geneva. It is a good time to reflect on a day filled with watchmaking craftsmanship and dazzling luxury. Luckily, the experience has just started. Taking in the breathtaking views from the shores of Lake Geneva, we head over to the hotel Beau-Rivage Genève. The iconic hotel matches the luxury, elegance and sophistication of Jacob & Co. timepieces perfectly.

Here, we get to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the city and the serenity of Lake Geneva while enjoying a premium cigar on the terrace. It is the perfect place to take a closer look at the Twin Turbo. This watch combines the exhilarating energy experienced in the world's fastest automobiles with the unparalleled refinement and mechanical complexity only present in the universe of ultra-high-end watchmaking. The Twin Turbo features two triple-axis tourbillons. These are the most complicated, technically most challenging and visually most encapsulating among all tourbillons. It also features a decimal minute repeater: the most exotic and rarest of all chiming complications.

Astronomia Casino

The next day, we step out the hotel in style, ready to stroll through the charming old town of Geneva. With the beautifully crafted Astronomia Casino on our wrist, every moment is made even more memorable. The sophistication and attention to every detail on the Jacob & Co. Astronomia Casino is absolutely stunning! The highlight of this timepiece is certainly the fully-operational miniature roulette wheel beneath the watch's sapphire domed crystal. But that's not all. The timepiece also comes equipped with a double-axis tourbillon. It's delicately decorated cage encapsulates the balance wheel, hairspring, escape wheel and a number of other crucially important components.

Bugatti Chiron

Back at the Beau-Rivage Genève we treat ourselves to a moment of pure luxury. While enjoying some delicious patisserie, we admire a very special timepiece: The Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. This watch, a word that doesn't do this piece of art justice, is one of the most complicated and sophisticated timepieces on the market. It is a masterpiece that combines visionary mechanics and design. For us, it is a true testament of the brand's commitment to crafting exceptional masterpieces that elevate style and function.

The Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon features a 30º inclined tourbillon, the first time Jacob & Co. has ever used an inclined tourbillon. In this context, "flying" means that the regulating organ of the tourbillon is only supported on one side. This gives the tourbillon an even more mesmerizing look. The 30º inclination also makes it easier for the wearer to admire this incredible complication.

Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Artworth

Epic SF24 Racing

To wrap up the unforgettable Geneva experience, we get to strap on the Epic SF24 Racing. This impressive timepiece is equipped with a unique world time movement and display, exclusive to Jacob & Co. 24 time zones are available at the push of a button. The display is inspired by old-time split-flap boards in airports and train stations and the time zones are even customizable.

Surprisingly for such a complicated timepiece, the watch is extremely easy to set and use. There is no need for reading glasses either since the cities are bold and large enough to read easily.

St. Moritz Artworth

Badrutt's Palace Hotel

St. Moritz is one of the most iconic winter tourism destinations. We have visited the snow-covered mountain village many times to attend its spectacular events like the White turf, Snow Polo or THE ICE. One building that always pops out when standing on the frozen lake, is the Badrutt's Palace. It was opened as early as 1896 by Caspar Badrutt. The chateau theme reflected the romantic era of the "Grand European Tour". Similarly designed grand hotels also popped up in the Canadian Rockies around that time.

Today, the Palace retains its fairy tale castle aura. It offers an enchanting mix of tradition and modernity, where people connect and celebrate with family and friends. In addition to rooms, suites and infrastructure of excellent quality, the service stands out here. The guest experience is truly elevated to the heights of luxury here in St. Moritz.

From their roomsguests can enjoy a magnificence view. With a backdrop of snow covered trees, tall peaks and a frozen lake, we enjoy a bottle of Ruinart. Cheers!

One of them is located in the first indoor tennis hall in Europe. In 1922, the International Lawn Tennis Federation held even the world championships here. Today, the former tennis court hosts the Matsuhisa restaurant. La Coupole.

King's Social House

Another spectacular outlet inside the Palace with a rich history is the King's Social House. It is testament to the hotel's ability to evolve to reflect new tastes. The history of King's Social House begins in the 1960s. Back then, the second generation of the Badrutt's family took over the management of the hotel. In order to keep up with the demands of the younger clientele, the hotel opened Switzerland's first nightclub: the King's Club. It was a hit!

In 2018, the space evolved to become King's Social House. Its neo-bistro concept was developed by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton. Guests arrive from 8pm on and enjoy some sharing plates, champagne and cocktails while the music is gently turned up, until the party gets started.

In addition to delicious food and drinks, King's Social House also offers a wonderful environment. Created by Rosendale Design, it features a wonderful bar and several murals in vibrant colors. It's the perfect setting for a night out!

Paradiso Mountain Club & Resort

After dancing into the night and sleeping in one of the world's best hotels, we are ready to explore St. Moritz' winter wonderland. No matter if you want to ski, do some snowshoeing or winter hiking, the best place to spend lunch time is Paradiso. This place is in icon. And since 2021, it is managed by the Badrutt's Palace.

At Paradiso, guests can choose between having lunch in the Mountain Club or vibing on the Music Deck. The latter is where everyone gets together to enjoy life on top of the world. Guests get the best in mountain comfort food, drinks and cocktails - all accompanied by an unstoppable beat.

At the Mountain Club, guests will find a great place to relax and chill. It is the exclusive member area of Paradiso. But don't worry, day passes are available. Here we enjoy delicious, rustic-chic dining as well as a wide range of wines and champagnes - both served in peak conditions.

Paradiso also teamed up with Gucci to create a unique lounge featuring designer furniture by the iconic Italian brand. For us, it's the pinnacle of experiences set on top of the world!

A gastronomy straight from the garden? Yes please! Especially when "Grands crus" vegetables are paired with grands crus grapes, found in Veuve Clicquot's La Grande Dame 2012. Join us on a trip to the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau, where we will dive into the fascinating world of Garden Gastronomy.

Garden Gastronomy Experience

As Madame Clicquot famously said, "Our black grapes give the finest white wines." Over 200 years later, Veuve Clicquot's enduring love of Pinot Noir finds its ultimate expression in La Grande Dame, the Maison's prestige cuvée. It is composed principally of the historical Grands Crus of their terroir.

From this constant quest for excellence comes Garden Gastronomy - a new, gastronomic experience inspired by La Grande Dame. The experience expresses itself through inverted dishes. This time, vegetables, herbs, and fruits center stage, while meat, fish, and eggs are prepared like condiments.

Dario Cadonau

Hailing from all over the world, Chefs that share Veuve Clicquot's philosophy were invited to interpret their vision of Garden Gastronomy. Their exclusive dishes, created with La Grande Dame in mind, are featured on their respective restaurants' menus.

In Switzerland, Veuve Clicquot has partnered with Dario Cadonau. He is a Michelin star chef and hotelier from the beautiful Engadin valley in Switzerland. He grew up here and has a deep connection with nature. "It gives me a lot of strength. Nature gives me inspiration for new dishes, our cuisine, and our daily life at the hotel," Dario says.

12 years ago, he opened the IN LAIN Hotel Cadonau together with his wife Tamara. The beautiful 450 years old traditional Engadin house used to be a farmhouse. It is where Dario's mother grew up. Today's it is the smallest 5-star superior hotel in Switzerland.

For his cuisine, Dario draws inspiration from the nature that surrounds him, working mainly with seasonal, local products from the Engadin, and boundless creativity. His grandfather already used to have wonderful vegetable garden (potager). Dario now continues this tradition. He grows his own vegetables and salads. Moreover, they also have a wonderful herb garden with around 60 different varieties of herbs right in front of the gourmet restaurant VIVANDA.

According to Dario, preparing vegetables in a way that all aromas can be appreciated to the fullest, is a form of art. "To do that, we need vegetables of the best possible quality. It must be Grand Cru vegetables," Dario says. Luckily, he finds these in their own potager which they foster and cultivate daily.

Veuve Clicquot Cellar

As of December 2022, one of the largest collections of Veuve Clicquot champagne can be found at Dario Cadonau's IN LAIN Hotel. Besides different formats, guests can enjoy many different vintages of the prestigious La Grande Dame and Cave Privée cuvées. The latter are particularly rare. Most of the bottles are numbered. Usually, only about 10'000 bottles have been produced of each vintage.

Pairing with La Grande Dame 2012

According to Dario, creating a dish that pairs well with La Grande Dame 2012 is a wonderful challenge. "La Grande Dame 2012 has a nice minerality, a wonderful freshness and a delicate acidity. It pairs marvelously with this tomato which is also slightly acidic," he says.

As we taste the different textures of his dish and indulge in the intense aromas of the tomato, we enjoy the wonderful freshness of La Grande Dame 2012. Dario is right, it is an excellent pairing!

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2012 Dario Cadonau In Lain Hotel Cadonau

Now, we can't wait to see what pairing he will come up with for La Grande Dame 2015, that is expected to be released in 2023.

Ferry lights and elegant clothes call for special timepieces during the winter holidays. Omega's exclusive 18K Sedna Gold makes for beautiful watches that match the magical spirit of Christmas. Time to have a look at two Omega models made with this exclusive material.

Omega Speedmaster

Named after Sedna, an orbiting planetoid that has been described as one of the reddest in the solar system, Sedna Gold by Omega not only bears all the standard characteristics of other 18K golds, but it also offers high resistance to the fading of color and lustre over time. Its unique composition includes copper and palladium for color and stability.

The Speedmaster Moonwatch is one of the world's most iconic timepieces - and it is also available in a Sedna Gold variation. Having been a part of all six moon landings, the legendary chronograph is an impressive representation of the brand's adventurous pioneering spirit.

Presented on a five-arched-links-per-row bracelet, this 42 mm Moonwatch features sapphire crystal glass on the front as well as on the caseback. Inspired by the 4th generation Speedmaster style worn on the moon, it also includes an asymmetrical case, black step dial and the famous dot over 90 on the anodised aluminium bezel ring. We love how the Sedna Gold turns this iconic sports watch into a very elegant timepiece.

Omega De Ville Trésor

Characterised by its thin and elegant case, the Trésor line was first launched by Omega in 1949 and housed the legendary 30mm calibre. More than half a century later, it continues to impress with one of today's most advanced mechanical movements.

The models featuring a polished 40 mm 18K Sedna Gold case are particularly elegant and classy in our opinion.

One option is this model with a domed blue dial and a blue leather strap. Its dial includes a Small Seconds display, along with hands and domed indexes in 18K Sedna gold.

A bolder option is certainly this Omega De Ville Trésor featuring a burgundy dial and leather strap. It is certainly an eye-catcher and makes a great impression at Christmas gatherings or elegant evenings spent at the opera. Our tip would be to wear it with a dark green suit or tuxedo!

Bucherer is the first retailer to join the newly launched Rolex Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program in Europe. But what does that mean for existing Bucherer customers and those who want to buy or sell a pre-owned Rolex? Let's have a closer look!

Rolex Certified Pre-Owned

As you might know, at Artworth we are big fans of the certified pre-owned movement. There is so much beauty and joy in collecting CPO and vintage watches. Having them officially serviced and certified makes this passion an even more enjoyable hobby. Through the newly created certification program by Rolexthe whole CPO space is expected to become more dynamic and attractive.

In the program, all Rolex CPO watches traded at Bucherer will be authenticated by Rolex itself. The models will receive a two-year international Rolex CPO warranty and dedicated Rolex CPO accessories, such as a Rolex CPO seal and a Rolex CPO pouch. We think that's a great added value for Bucherer's clientele and a milestone not only for the Swiss family-owned company, but for the watch industry as a whole. We expect other brands to follow soon with a similar program, further strengthening the secondary market for Swiss timepieces.

Bucherer becomes the first official Rolex CPO Dealer

As early as 2019, Bucherer successfully entered the business with pre-owned watches and expanded rapidly - both online and offline. Artworth was present when the first Bucherer Gallery dedicated to CPO timepieces was opened in Geneva. Recently, we returned there to host an Artworth at Bucherer event. You can read the article about this magnificent evening here.

In addition to a steadily growing assortment of carefully curated luxury watches, Bucherer has successively expanded its own network of Certified Pre-Owned sales outlets to around 50 locations worldwide. Artworth had the pleasure to host events in some of these locations. Among them Zurich, Bern, Munich, and Paris.

Today, Bucherer is one of the world's most renowned houses when it comes to selling luxury jewelry and watches. Its strong ties to Rolex and extensive expertise in the CPO market paved the way to become the first retailer to join the newly launched CPO program by Rolex. At Bucherer's point of sale in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Denmark and the United Kingdom, the offering will be launched immediately. The launch in the USA is expected to follow soon.

Significant added value for Bucherer's CPO Customers

At Artworth, we think that Rolex' offering creates outstanding added value for Bucherer's clientele. With this cooperation, the two companies are creating the highest degree of security and transparency. Bucherer's customers will enjoy the good feeling of purchasing a Rolex watch itself certified and authenticated. What will the move mean for the broader watch industry? We believe that demand for new models will remain high while the confidence to buy pre-owned watches will further increase. Why? Well, people might buy more watches at a higher value, if they know there is a healthy pre-owned market on which timepieces can be traded with confidence at attractive and fair price points.

The Artworth at Bucherer event series takes us to Paris! Join us as we check-in at the marvelous InterContinental Paris LeGrand next to the Opéra and prepare for the event. Which rare certified pre-owned watches by Bucherer will we get to discover this time?

Staying at InterContinental Paris LeGrand

Checking-in at the InterContinental Paris LeGrand feels like traveling back in time. The iconic hotel was inaugurated under Napoleon III and is located in the heart of Paris. It offers guests a magnificent view of the Opera Garnier. The 5-star hotel boasts rooms and suites decorated in a Second Empire style infused with contemporary touches.

One of the highlights is the Verrière, a spacious winter garden inside the hotel. Seating is bathed in natural light under the vast metallic atrium and enhanced with giant ficus plants, white orchids and lights reminiscent of Parisian passageways. The serenity of the Verrière feels like an oasis in the midst of Paris' bustling streets. In the evening, an intimate atmosphere in the gentle glow of the large central chandelier awaits guests.

The Café de la Paix, a Parisian institution within the hotel, serves the great classics of French gastronomy. It has always been at the heart of Parisian art and art de vivre. Sitting down for a delicious French breakfast, we join an illustrious list of patrons, the spirit of Guy de Maupassant and Victor Hugo or the memory of Ernest Hemingway.

Exploring Paris

The central location of InterContinental Paris LeGrand is ideal to check out some famous sights by foot. For example the iconic Galeries Lafayette with their incredible terrace that can be visited for free.

From here, more sights like the Opéra or the Palais Royal are just minutes away by foot. The latter is one of our favorite places in the city. We love to grad a flat white at Kitsuné and settle down on a bench inside the Palais Royal Garden and read the newspaper.

The Louvre is only a stone throw away from here. While the exhibitions here attract large crowds, we usually enjoy coming here simply for the architecture. Historic buildings, restful gardens and modern elements make for a great combination!

When needing a break, where better to go than one of the many beautiful bistros? There are tons of classy corner cafés that can be discovered. We usually like to sit outside and watch the busy city life unfold before us while enjoying a coffee or glass of champagne.

Artworth at Bucherer Paris

The Swiss watch and fine jewellery experts from Bucherer have set up a very nice boutique in Paris. It is actually situated inside the same iconic building as the InterContinental Paris LeGrand on 12, Boulevard des Capucines.

Not too long ago, a Bucherer Gallery was opened inside the boutique. This marvelous space is dedicated to certified pre-own watches. These are timepieces that Bucherer acquires, services and offers again to its clients - with a two year warranty.

The Artworth at Bucherer event takes place inside this beautiful Gallery. Our events are always a great opportunity to discover rare and highly sought after timepieces. One example is this Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. With its 40 mm rose gold case, this reference 116505 comes equipped with the automatic caliber 4130.

Another exceptional piece displayed at the event was an Omega Speedmaster Professional "Silver Snoopy Award". Limited to only 5'441 numbered pieces, this watch was launched to commemorate the Apollo XIII mission. On the second sub register, the famous "Eyes on the Stars" was added. It can also be found on the case back.

But why is there a Snoopy on a Speedy? Well, at the time of the Apollo lunar program he was a very popular character and was liked by the Apollo 10 crew. Their lunar module was even named after him. Snoopy was therefore chosen as the watchdog for NASA's prestigious manned flight awareness award.
The "Silver Snoopy" is awarded to individuals and companies for outstanding efforts that contribute to the success of human space flight missions. Omega received its Snoopy Award on 5 October 1970 in recognition of the crucial role that its Speedmaster chronograph played on the Apollo 13 mission.

A heartfelt Merci goes out to everyone who joined our first event in France and discovered fine watches, exquisite fabrics by Dormeuil and enjoyed delicious champagne by Laurent-Perrier. We hope to be back soon!

Now, the Swiss watch brand that has set out to capture the vibrant spirit of this bygone era by opening the Nomadic 1931 pop-up café during the Illuminarium at the Landesmuseum in Zurich.

Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre came up with the immersive concept to celebrate the 90th anniversary of its iconic Reverso timepiece. Launched in 1931 and defined by its elegant Art Deco lines, the Reverso has arguably become one of the most recognizable watches of all time. At Artworth, we already wrote and posted about this classy and ingenious timepiece numerous times. For example here.

Made of Makers

With its "Made of Makers" program, Jaeger-LeCoultre is drawing artistic inspiration from beyond the world of watchmaking. The goal of the program is to collaborate with artists outside the industry. The latest partnership is with Alex Trochut, who uses typography as an art form. His mission was to create a new typeface that epitomizes the Art Deco spirit. The result is the 1931 Alphabet, which makes its way to the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse as well as the local Nomadic 1931 Café.

As you might know, the most unique feature of the Reverso is its revolutionary reversible case. Originally, it allowed British Polo players to slip the watch out of its socket and reverse it to face inwards. Like that it offered protection during rough games. While the dial is reversed, the timepiece reveals a blank metal flipside that has since become a unique canvas for creative expression. It's the perfect space for intricate engravings - like the carefully designed 1931 Alphabet by Alex Trochut.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique in Zurich

While some inspiration for engravings is already offered at the Nomadic 1931 Café, one has to make their way to the beautiful Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique at the Bahnhofstrasse 32 in Zurich to get more information. Here, a wonderful Reverso-themed Christmas decoration awaits us, as well as a carefully created wall featuring the Art Deco alphabet by Alex Trochut.

On a tablet, we get to customize our Reverso with a unique engraving. Naturally, we would go for the letters AW. From now on, it will take roughly four weeks until the artisans at the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture have completed the intricate engraving. We can't wait to see the result!
