To commemorate 15 years of pioneering innovation, Armin Strom presents the Dual-Time Resonance GMT, a limited-edition timepiece that revisits the brand’s groundbreaking resonance technology. Encased in a refined 39mm white gold frame, it showcases two independent time zones with the flexibility to accommodate fractional-hour GMT deviations. With its vibrant sky-blue grenage dials, day/night indicators, and masterfully hand-finished details, the watch offers a captivating kinetic display that sets it apart from anything else in the world of horology.

The Science Behind Resonance

The resonance phenomenon – a delicate balancing act where two balance wheels housed in a single case synchronize via shared vibrations – has been a holy grail for watchmakers since 1655 due to its promise of superior timekeeping precision. Armin Strom has achieved a breakthrough with a patented clutch spring, a unique suspension system that maintains this synchronization even in the face of disruptive conditions, such as wrist movements, gravity, and temperature fluctuations. This innovation allows the balance wheels to consistently prevent the deviations in oscillation rate that would typically occur, achieving a level of resilience never before realized in a wristwatch.

Armin Strom's Dual-Time Resonance GMT is not only a feat of engineering but also a showcase of artistry. The twin dials feature a sky-blue grenage finish with black azurage chapter rings and polished baton indices, while the engraved day/night indicators add an element of refinement. For the first time, the twin balance bridge is crafted in polished steel, and the calibre is adorned with luxurious finishes, including hand-polished bevels, screws, and countersinks, along with Geneva stripes and perlage, demonstrating Armin Strom's unwavering commitment to traditional craftsmanship.

One of the standout features of the Dual-Time Resonance GMT is its innovative winding experience. Located at 6 o’clock, the three-dimensional ratchet wheel creates a mesmerizing dial-side animation that enhances the watch's dynamic character. This design offers not just functional excellence but also a visual spectacle that invites admiration with every glance, making each winding of the watch an engaging and interactive experience.

The new Dual-Time Resonance GMT honors Armin Strom's first resonance timepiece, released in 2016, while introducing a more compact, elegantly proportioned design. It pays homage to centuries of horological pursuit, from early experiments in the 17th century to its modern execution, capturing the elusive dream of achieving chronometric consistency in a wristwatch.

Jacob & Co. has long been renowned for its mastery of horological complications, but one of its most fascinating specialties is the automaton - a rare and highly prized mechanism in the world of luxury watches. With the Oil Pump, Jacob & Co. has reimagined the automaton in a bold new context, bringing to life a three-dimensional, animated depiction of an oil well, meticulously crafted within a resized 44mm case.

Jacob & Co. Oil Pump 44mm Artworth

The Oil Rig Automaton

The Oil Pump is not just a watch; it's a dynamic story told through horology. At the center of this narrative is the oil rig itself, which moves up and down, mirroring the function of a real derrick. Jacob & Co. has created a miniature oil well, complete with platform, barrel, piping, and manifold — a testament to the brand's unique ability to craft meaningful stories through watchmaking.

Caliber JCAM53: The Heart of the Oil Pump

The watch is powered by the Caliber JCAM53, one of only a few automaton movements ever made for a wristwatch. Designed from scratch, this movement is a marvel of compact, vertical engineering, incorporating numerous components to create a compelling narrative. Each complication plays a role in the story told on the dial, which is a hallmark of Jacob & Co.’s innovative approach.

The movement features a unique flying tourbillon, anchored above the dial and set alongside the automaton. Activated by a pusher at 1:30 o'clock, the automaton brings two derricks, or “horse heads,” to life, mimicking the rhythmic motion of oil pumps.

Jacob & Co. Oil Pump 44mm Artworth

A Scene in Solid Gold

The Oil Pump is a miniature scene brought to life in large format, with every element custom-crafted from solid rose gold and hand-finished to resemble real drilling gear. We are amazed by the level of detail, which is truly astounding: from the bent and straight pipes connecting functional elements, to a barrel adorned with a flammable warning sticker. A red manifold sits upstream from a pressure gauge, which doubles as the watch's power reserve indicator. This intricate 3D construction showcases Jacob & Co.'s unparalleled craftsmanship.

The Automaton in Action

Upon activation of the pusher, the two horse-heads begin their mesmerizing up-and-down motion, powered by a single hidden axis. This elaborate sequence, which lasts a minimum of 35 seconds, is a marvel of horological engineering, hidden beneath a deceptively simple exterior.

The Caliber JCAM53 not only powers the automaton but also features an innovative power reserve indicator disguised as a pressure gauge. This architectural marvel allows for 72 hours of operation before requiring the next wind, emphasizing the watch's high level of performance under “pressure.”

A Tribute to "Black Gold"

The Oil Pump is more than a luxurious timepiece; it’s a powerful depiction of the oil industry’s critical role in society. While oil may be controversial and criticized, it remains a $4.3 trillion industry symbolizing wealth and achievement. Hence, the Oil Pump is designed for those who hear "gold" when they think of "black gold" - a statement piece for those who understand the significance and complexities of this essential resource.

With only 88 pieces available, the Jacob & Co. Oil Pump is reserved for the discerning few who appreciate not just the beauty of fine watchmaking, but also the stories these timepieces tell. Each watch is a testament to Jacob & Co.'s relentless pursuit of innovation, craftsmanship, and narrative in the world of haute horlogerie.

In the realm of high-end horology and automotive design, few partnerships are as synergistic as that between Bugatti Automobiles and Jacob & Co. Established in 2019, this collaboration is a fusion of extreme luxury, mechanical prowess, and unparalleled craftsmanship, producing hypercar-inspired timepieces that stand in a league of their own.

Bugatti Tourbillon: A Timepiece Like No Other

Jacob Arabo, Founder and Chairman of Jacob & Co., describes the partnership with palpable excitement: “Working closely with Bugatti is an exciting experience. I live to push watchmaking to new levels, coming up with designs and complications that no one had even dreamed about. Bugatti is the same. They push everything beyond what everyone thinks is the limit. The Bugatti Tourbillon is our most advanced timepiece, the great achievement of a great partnership.”

The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon is the hyper-twin to Bugatti's latest hyper sports car, the Tourbillon. Both marvels of engineering feature groundbreaking inventions and complications, boasting a new architectural design inspired directly by Bugatti's automotive masterpieces. This integration of aesthetics, mechanics, and functionality sets a new benchmark for the likeness between a timepiece and an automobile.

Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon Artworth

Design and Mechanics in Perfect Harmony

The Bugatti Tourbillon's design incorporates ten defining elements directly drawn from the car. The case mirrors Bugatti's iconic car shape, with the front grille flanked by side radiator inlets. Sapphire openings on the case sides mimic the car's tinted side windows, while the sub-dials echo the dashboard and RPM counter. Most notably, the timepiece features an automaton that replicates the V16 engine block, complete with exhaust manifolds. Even the winding crown is crafted to resemble the car's control knobs.

A New Era of Innovation

In September 2022, Bugatti discreetly informed Jacob & Co. of a new hyper sports car to succeed the Chiron. By January 2023, Jacob Arabo, CEO Benjamin Arabov, and their team visited Bugatti’s design studio to collaborate with Bugatti’s design leaders, Achim Anscheidt and Jan Schmid. This meeting led to a seamless integration of car and watch design, culminating in the extraordinary Bugatti Tourbillon, a testament to 18 months of intensive collaboration.

The Unrivaled Caliber JCAM55

At the heart of the Bugatti Tourbillon is the Caliber JCAM55, a movement that stands alone in its creative and mechanical ingenuity. Its features are as follows:

The V16 Engine-Block Automaton: Made from a single large block of transparent sapphire, it houses 16 titanium pistons driven by a single-axis crankshaft, one of the longest and most intricate watch parts ever crafted. When activated, the crankshaft spins, and the cylinders move in unison, mimicking the car’s engine.

The 30-Second Flying Tourbillon: To counteract gravity's negative impact on accuracy, the tourbillon spins the escapement continuously. In Caliber JCAM55, this rotation takes 30 seconds, enhancing accuracy more effectively than the standard one-minute tourbillon. The carriage is held only by its base, creating a flying tourbillon effect.

The Retrograde, Jumping Hours, and Retrograde Minutes: Both hour and minute hands are retrograde, jumping back to zero after completing a 270-degree arc. The hour hand jumps to the next hour every 60 minutes, remaining there until the next cycle.

The Double Power Reserve Indicator: This unique feature displays the power reserve for the automaton and the overall power reserve of 48 hours. The smaller hand in the Power Reserve counter indicates the remaining autonomy for the engine block automaton, which can perform 20 consecutive animations on a full wind.

Celebrating Engineering Excellence

The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon not only emulates but also reinterprets Bugatti's extraordinary design and engineering achievements in horological form. To honor the new engine architecture of the Bugatti Tourbillon hyper sports car, Jacob & Co. has crafted a new miniature engine block. This V16 engine block induces a new level of excitement and exhilaration for Jacob & Co.'s discerning customers, symbolizing the pinnacle of luxury and innovation.

In the world of luxury watches and hypercars, the Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon is more than a timepiece; it’s a mechanical masterpiece, a testament to what happens when two giants of their industries come together to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Each year, whisky enthusiasts around the globe eagerly anticipate the final Saturday of The Islay Festival (Fèis Ìle), for it heralds the arrival of Ardbeg Day—a global celebration of all things Ardbeg. This year on June 1st, the Ardbeg circus rolled into town to unveil the Distillery’s latest Limited Edition – Ardbeg Spectacular.

The Grand Reveal: Ardbeg Spectacular

Ardbeg Spectacular is inspired by a deep and peculiar extravaganza of flavours, encouraging fans to embrace the whimsical world of dark circus. Whether you're celebrating on Islay or at a local event, don your finest circus attire and prepare for an extraordinary experience.

For the first time, Ardbeg has matured this whisky in highly sought-after port wine casks, which are then married with classic bourbon barrels. The result? An extraordinarily smoky and balanced dram that tantalizes the senses with its devilish sweet meets smoky peat profile.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Sunset orange

Aroma: The initial aroma is curiously perfumed and aromatic, with a prominent note of fragrant lavender. Mid-palate, vetiver and incense candles emerge, followed by deeper notes of leather and wax mingling with rich almond nuttiness. Adding a splash of water unveils gentle wisps of woodsmoke and damp peat moss, along with hints of menthol that blend seamlessly with rich antique leather.

Taste: A viscous texture bursts forth, introducing a sparkling array of salty, sweet, and savoury flavours. Peat smoke, eucalyptus oil, minty chocolate, and toffee dominate, with smoked pecans, creosote, and tar adding complexity. Subtle notes of sweet pear crumble and fudge provide a delightful background.

Finish: A long and lingering finish of salted caramel and cooling menthol rounds off this showstopping spectacle of flavour, leaving a lasting impression.

A Conversation with Nature by Marcus Coates

British artist Marcus Coates has been invited to contribute to this year’s Carte Blanche, bringing his unique approach to the Maison’s commitment to biodiversity. Coates’ work is a profound conversation with nature, focusing on observing, listening, and understanding the needs and perspectives of other species. His latest project at Ruinart’s historic Taissy vineyard exemplifies this ethos beautifully.

Coates has created an ephemeral calendar, a delicate yet powerful piece marking the daily events unfolding in the vineyard’s ecosystem. This calendar is not just an artistic installation but a gentle reminder of the intricate web of life that surrounds and supports us.
