Jaeger-LeCoultre | The Reverso Stories Experience

Jaeger-LeCoultre, the renowned Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, invites enthusiasts and connoisseurs on a captivating journey through time and craftsmanship with the launch of the Reverso Stories Experience. This unique exhibition at Zurich's main station pays homage to the iconic Reverso watch, celebrating over nine decades of unparalleled artistry.

A Timeless Icon: The Reverso

The Reverso, with its sleek Art Deco lines and distinctive reversible case, stands as one of the most recognizable watches in history. Born in 1931 on the polo fields of India, this ingenious timepiece was designed to endure the rigors of polo matches. Its revolutionary swiveling case, a patented marvel, became the cornerstone of Jaeger-LeCoultre's legacy.

Over the years, the Reverso has evolved without losing its essence. It has housed more than 50 different calibres and its blank metal flip side has transformed into a canvas for creative expression, adorned with enamel, engravings, and gemstones. This exhibition underscores the Reverso as not just a watch, but a true work of art.

Unveiling the Masterpieces

At the heart of the Reverso Stories Experience lies a fascinating retrospective of Reverso's history and its emblematic models. The exhibition showcases the Métiers Rares of the Manufacture: enamelling, engraving, gemsetting, and guilloché work, emphasizing the Reverso's role as a canvas for artistic expression.

A special highlight of the exhibit is the Reverso Hybris Mechanica Caliber 185, featuring four functioning faces. Known as the Reverso Hybris Mechanica "Quadriptyque," this masterpiece, six years in the making, merges traditional savoir-faire with innovative astronomical indications, enabling it to predict upcoming global celestial events.

Art Meets Watchmaking

In addition to the horological marvels, the Reverso Stories Experience introduces visitors to a world where art meets watchmaking. American digital artist Brendi Wedinger unveils a series of artworks inspired by the Vallée du Joux, the Maison's birthplace. Wedinger's pieces mirror the complexity and uniqueness found in Jaeger-LeCoultre watches, creating a mesmerizing fusion of natural beauty and intricate detail.

Renowned Korean digital media artist Dr Yiyun Kang contributes her art installation, "Origin," paying tribute to the omnipresence of the Golden Ratio in the world around us. This immersive narrative builds a bridge between the symmetry in nature and the geometric allure of Art Deco Design.

Jaeger-LeCoultre x Artworth Event

The Reverso Stories Experience is a testament to the enduring legacy of Jaeger-LeCoultre and its iconic Reverso watch. Having made its debut in Munich and London in 2022, this exhibit now graces Zurich with its presence, marking the only stop in Switzerland.

At Artworth we were really happy to invite a select group of guests to experience the pop-up during an exclusive evening at the Reverso 1931 Café. Our guests got to enjoy a nice offering hot beverages as well as champagne in an Art Deco-inspired ambiance.

This unique event turned out to be a great evening for watch enthusiasts and art aficionados alike, offering a rare glimpse into the exquisite world of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Thanks to everyone who took the chance to be part of this extraordinary celebration of timekeeping mastery and artistic expression. Until next time!
