Château Galoupet presents its second vintage since embracing organic farming, following the resounding success of the Château Galoupet Cru Classé Rosé 2021. The latest vintage, crafted entirely from estate-grown vines, is a complex, full-bodied Rosé de Provence boasting a refined mineral finish and remarkable aging potential. Let's discover the magic of Château Galoupet's second vintage since transitioning to Organic Cultivation!
Located in an environmentally conscious and forward-looking estate, Château Galoupet encompasses 77 hectares of protected forest and 69 hectares of certified organic vineyards. It boasts three distinct micro-terroirs and a unique microclimate shaped by the winds blowing between the Massif des Maures, the ancient salterns of Hyères, and the "Golden Islands" off the Côte d'Azur.
Recognized as a Cru Classé de Provence since 1955, the estate traces its roots back to an 18th-century map and lies within the geologically oldest area of the appellation. As a burgeoning biodiversity sanctuary, housing diverse native plants and animals, the team at Château Galoupet strives to produce increasingly refined expressions of the terroir while respecting nature and the environment to the fullest.
The 2021 vintage presented its challenges, but given the weather conditions of 2022, this second vintage rosé is truly a marvel. Due to extremely high temperatures, the grapes ripened ten days earlier than in 2021, leading to an unprecedented early start and end to the harvest in the month of August. However, the harvest was suddenly interrupted by a severe hailstorm, an event not seen on the estate for two decades.
Nevertheless, thanks to rigorous micro-selection from 39 organically cultivated plots and meticulous vinification in 600-liter French oak barrels, the wine reveals different aspects of the terroir. Compared to the 2021 vintage, it is equally expressive, boasting the same well-structured mouthfeel, a long, mineral finish, and intriguing aging potential.
The Aroma: Generous and vibrant, with notes of apricot, wild peach, and complex pastry aromas.
The Palate: Full-bodied, opulent, and intense, with delicate notes of fresh flowers, yellow fruits, almonds, and sweet spices, followed by a touch of honey. A long, complex, and mineral finish.
Blend: Grenache (58%), Tibouren (12%), Syrah (11%), Rolle (11%), Cinsault (6%), Sémillon (2%).
Cellaring Potential: 2-4 years.
At Artworth we believe that the Château Galoupet Cru Classé Rosé 2022 is a truly exceptional wine that harmoniously captures the essence of the estate's unique terroir and organic winemaking philosophy. With its impressive complexity, luxurious mouthfeel, and the promise of graceful aging, it is the perfect companion for moments of indulgence and celebration.
